I am always very skeptical about the decision to "live off of rewards." I don't see this as a guaranteed income. A few whales stop buying and we are spiralling down in value and everyone "employed" by DPoS is looking for a new gig. That said, I live off of my carpentry skills and am privileged enough to do this for fun / side hustle / hobby / self interest because I have a fairly stable job that pays the bills.
Whale's that are established that decide to "retire", that is different. I am talking about looking at the 400 POB I staked last week and deciding that would be enough to put food on the table if I sold instead... so let's stop showing up to frame houses and go full time POB!?
This is a 3 month old project... far from a secure income source. The upward potential looks good from where I am sitting... but the downward potential could be devastating if you are trying to make ends meet with it. I can't pretend to know what it is like to fear for your very livelihood, but I also know throwing all of my eggs in one basket isn't the best idea in the world.
That said, POB owes nothing to anyone. It is code built into a complex and growing, yet volatile marketplace. We are built into it's distribution mechanism and as such, play a role in it. This is by design, an experiment in society and governance in relation to markets. It is fascinating to see what develops. I must say that I have been around long enough to be a bit numb to some of these "issues" but at the same time, the way forward is together and that is far easier said than done.
