Procrastination: The dream killer

I believe a lot of dreams have been shattered just by the seed of procrastination in the heart of the dreamer. There are many people that have not done what they are called to do because they choose to postpone it until tomorrow. Tomorrow is never a guarantee, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow and if tomorrow would have come nothing would have been done.

A procrastinator

is someone who waits for tomorrow to begin today’s work,

or the one who does not manage his time properly.

In a business environment, you are busy with meetings, appointments and endless calls from clients and then, you suddenly realise that all these jobs take up your time and you are unable to complete your project on time.

After failing to send out the project, you may feel a little bit guilty because you had already promised the project before procrastinating it.

So far, quite a lot of people in the world have this problem and most of them are giving excuses for being late. One reason is that they don’t have enough time to finish the task and another reason is that they don’t know how to start it. Most likely, they have not prioritised their tasks perfectly. If they have time management skills and they prioritise their tasks in the right manner, they can finish a project within due date.

It’s a seed that is watered by feelings of low self-worth, feelings of low confidence and feelings of inadequacy.

We should know that anything worth doing at all should be done at the moment. There is no benefit in doing today’s work tomorrow, because tomorrow will be another day and you are going to have to start all over again.

What happens when you choose to procrastinate? You will find yourself behind time, your peers will have reached higher grounds, you will reach a point where you are way too far to catch up. At this point, you are so stressed out that you now become afraid to even try. So instead, you chose mediocrity. This is how procrastination kills dreams and turns people into mediocre.

Procrastination is a killer. It’s the mind killer. It’s the little death that brings total obliteration. No one wants to work with a procrastinator.

It’s much easier for you to do the work today and get it over with than tomorrow. I know because I have seen a procrastinator.

We live in a world that is always competed for our attention, a world surrounded with hundreds of distractions on every side doing their level best to draw us into their web. This causes many people to suffer from anxiety and depression. We quickly lose sight of what is important to us and pick up our phone or tablet to fill the void left by an unfulfilling life.

Procrastination is like stealing one’s on time. Using tomorrow’s time for today sounds like stealing time from yourself. The act of not doing something and the feeling that arises from that, emotionally, is like the pain of a needle prick. The fear of retribution is real.

But then again, no one wants to suffer. Truth is, procrastinating is a very hard habit to break.

The good news is, you can overcome procrastination if you put your mind to it like I did. Stopping procrastination is easy when you challenge yourself beyond fear, when you push yourself beyond comfort zones into new levels of success.

Excellent article on procrastination, but I'm sorry that you didn't get our conversation before, I am the "king" of procrastination, I put the "pro" in crastinate hahahaha!!! Two grammaticals:
We live in a world that is always competed for our attention Should be "competing?" and
Procrastination is like stealing one’s on time. Should be "one's own time?"
This post was obtained through Dreemport.

I forgot to tell you @baned we used to have a saying, "Why put off till tomorrow what you can do today, because if you enjoy it today, you can do it again tomorrow." lol

Hahahahaha king.
Pro of procrastination
I’m going to check the errors i made

Well said king James.
That means today should be our decision making day to continue tomorrow or not

Procrastination is a thief of time and so we must not do what will take our precious time away from us

Remember that time is money as they once said and so wasting it away is not the best. Be sure to make proper use of your time to the fullest.

My first experience and all.

Have you had sleep paralysis before?

When I post it here,I would tag you

Please do tag me...and please drop the URL in Dreemport hehe I'm sure our public curators would enjoy that! We had somebody else post about sleep paralysis a few weeks back. Fascinating read. I haven't had sleep paralysis myself. I know what it is biologically; must be scary when it happens!

Hahah it’s really scary and more scarier if you have no idea what it was.

Even if it happens to you now, you might not be all scared because you have an idea of what it is.

and yes, I will post it on dreem port later today.
Maybe at night( in Nigeria )

Yes,I think i did read some post on sleep paralysis and i had so much to comment on it haha.

Procrastination is a dream killer.

My grandma used to say: Don let for tomorrow that you may do today.

Got you in Dreemport

Procrastination is the thief of time and when we aren´t doing what we ought to do at the right time. we would be left behind others and by that time, we would be causing ourselves more harm than good. @dreemport led me here

Well said my dear.
There is no good in procrastination

Procrastination is indeed the enemy of productivity. Having deadlines and goals for yourself is one way to stay on track. Even though I no longer work at job (other than enjoying being retired!) I find I have to have some kind of goals for myself or the days just slip away with nothing productive accomplished.
