The Hive Community were in a panic this afternoon as users tried to get in as many Chess and poker strategies as they could before the much anticipated Play to Earn game Ragnarok hit down.
"I have watched The Queens Gambit twice on Netflix already and I can't make heads nor tails of it," claimed one nervous Hive member getting ready for the airdrop.
The chess and poker communities on Hive were acting particularly smug when they heard the news that Ragnarok was a strategy game based on chess, poker and trading card games and whatever else Dan is into. Rumour has it that developers had to draw the line at chess and poker as Ludo, Snakes n Ladders, and backgammon were also being pushed.
"Nobody wanted to say it to him because they like the upvote but someone had to say enough was enough at the Ludo." claimed one developer.

On top of that the Greek mythology aspect of the game , it just makes it all a bit complicated from the get go.
If that wasn't enough , news on Ragnarok started to come to the surface and rumour has it the Chess Board is diagonal.

"Mother of Jesus" said one concerned Splinterlands player. "Chess is hard enough without turning the fecking board diagonal.
"I'm just gonna cash in on the NFT's and buy myself a gold foil Haunted Spirit."
Poker player Dan Harrington has seen sales of his famous poker books surge on Amazon as the Hive Community try and consume as much poker theory as possible.
"If you have to think, this game isn't for me," claimed one concerned player while playing Splinterlands.
The steps of the game became clear below so Hive members could start making a plan to make sure they hit the ground running.
The steps are as follows.
1. Pick your Pieces
OK this seems easy. How hard can it be?? The cards represent are chess pieces and Greek mythology characters each with their own elements, tribe , abilities, spells and also special abilities. So I gotta learn the chess pieces and what they do! Fair Enough. The rest is Splinterlandsy.
2.Assemble each Piece's Spell Deck
Should be handy once I get to know the story.
3.Play Chess
"Well if I learn the pieces I may as well learn a bit of chess. The horsies goes L shaped and the bishops go diagonal. The pawns are shite. The rooks are handy if they can get out of the blocks.Easy peasy." said one Hive Member.
4. Two Pieces Collide!
A) Ranged Combat: Play a round of Spells
Should be same as Splinterlands
B) Melee Combat: Play a hand of Poker
Learn Poker.
C) repeat A & B until one Piece wins
Resume playing Chess until one King falls

"Seems like a straight forward game if it wasn't for the pokery chess or the chessity pokery on a diagonal board."
Gods unchained fans are even surprised at someone making a game as compli - ma - cated as their own.
The timings of the game have yet to be announced but the gaming community is anxious in case 1 game takes 16 hours and they have to get their adult nappies on again.
"They weren't needed since Skyrim but I have a few left over." claimed one happy nerd.
On the bright side some of the Demon Souls fan club are sniffing around Hive over rumours of a harder game as they await Elden Rings.
"If there is anything we love, it's a piss hard game" claimed one Demon Souls expert.
"This chess slash poker on a diagonal board is right up our street."
Chess Grandmaster GM Magnus Carlsen declined to comment on the Ragnorak update but rumour has it he is no good at poker so he will not be signing up.
Surely it will be easier than how it is coming across???? Surely????
Thor also declined to comment as he was busy filming.

Yeah someone checkmated my royal flush and it blew up into a shooting star of magical disbelief. Luckily it was all a dream because I just can't seem to stop thinking about this game.
I got a green mushroom and get an extra life. 🤣.
Yeah I've been on that trip before.
hahaha. love your comment... I used to play a lot of Ludo with my family when a kid. Great Game. Also love chess and think I will like Ragnarok a lot...
I'm looking forward to trying it at least. I'm undefeated in chess for the past twenty years. Probably only played twenty times though lol!
hahaha, man, you are funny.
that's one problem to play chess, you need someone to play with. but I'm not an online chess fan... but very few times I play it to practice. I like to play on board.
I'd been playing it on Facebook for awhile. There's a hidden chess game in the messenger, chess notation to move the pieces. Don't use Facebook anymore though.
Best played on a board yes and I agree, hard to find another player. Growing up I had it on Super Nintendo.
Nice
I play on mobile phone. Has some good apps...
Great post! Creative writing and p2e are a great combination and is a breath of fresh air in midst of the usual posts that flood gaming tags. Made me giggle.

Cheers for the comment. Yeah I'm bored of all those usual posts as well. 😃
Ha ha ha, gas commentary there!!! Did ya ever see that Donkey derby commentary? Think it might have been down your neck of the woods. Feckin gas...
Yeah that was in Castletown Portlaoise. Best video ever. I know it so well that I see the detail now such as the first jockey just pushing the second jockey out of the way in the interview. the whole thing is just brilliant.
