A fast Google search will reveal the following attributes of successful people:

The renowned Marsmallow Study at Stanford University found that successful people can wait gratification.
— Success is an attitude, according to Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck. Apparently, successful people have a growth attitude, whereas regular people perceive their talents as fixed wages. In other words, successful people learn from their mistakes rather than dwell on them.

Dr. Wayne Dyer, one of America's most recognised self-helpers, on success

According to research from the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University, children with excellent social skills achieve better in later life.

Successful people are passionate about their profession, but they don't allow it cloud their judgement.

Numerous research on success exist. That's why the list continues. So why are there so many success theories? Why are the outcomes of studies on successful people so different? And the solution is simple: successful individuals are complex, even paradoxical. They have dynamic rather than static qualities. This is one of their secrets to success. Some of the conflicting traits of successful people are:

Success breeds devastation. They hate the status quo. "What if, why not?" they wonder. They aren't frightened to question authority. However, efforts to destroy things are motivated by a desire to improve things. They are thoughtful and caring. Not to humiliate individuals, but to educate them. They do not hesitate to point out others' errors. When it's time to change, they don't hesitate.

Successful people are driven by enthusiasm, but also logical and objective. Successful people are passionate about their profession, but they don't allow it cloud their judgement. They can step back, observe critically from distance, and admit their mistakes. If there is a significant failure, they accept it because they know that change is better.

IQ tests measure convergent thinking, or rational thinking that discovers a single accurate solution. Contrary thinking refers to producing fresh thoughts and questions without a firm foundation. Both are vital. No matter how smart a guy is, he cannot succeed if he cannot articulate himself. However, rationality is required to properly evaluate ideas.

Successful people seem to have boundless energy when it comes to their passions. But they can control this energy. They concentrate and work hard. Their vigour is not to be confused with that of hyperactive persons who can't focus.

"Do what you love, and you'll never have to work a day in your life," successful people say. Because successful people enjoy what they do, they get a high when brainstorming or solving difficulties. They enjoy their work while taking it seriously.

Depending on the situation, successful people can act more introverted or outgoing. They can either sit in the back row and listen to the talks in quiet, or they can get up on stage, grab the microphone, and stir the throng in front of them.
Nobody can deny that intelligence is a key to success. But many successful people have a playful side.

Success requires pride in one's work, but many successful people also appreciate the value of others who support them. They realise they didn't do it alone. When you meet someone who has had several triumphs in life, you find them modest.
