In the last century, there was an intense dispute between the powers: USA vs USSR. The cold war, as that long episode of tensions between them was called, was based on the space race, the increase in nuclear and military arsenals, and the geopolitical expansion of both sides. Apparently, the cold war has resurfaced in this century, but with another country in dispute with the Americans, China. The largest eastern nation has grown considerably over the past 30 years, raising its economy to an incredible second place globally, and could soon be number one if its annual GDP growth continues at a fast pace, higher than that of the Americans.
Okay, now let's get straight to the point, why can we say that the current scenario configures itself as a 21st century cold war?
-First point: Both are in a space dispute; U.S.A and China launched robotic probes to mars, with the ultimate goal being to find essential environments in planetary space to host future lives, and also collections of materials that indicate whether there was in a remote past, an enabling environment, which harbored lives.
-Second point: NASA admits that the Chinese space program is closer to the ultimate goal on Mars, which is to populate the place with humans, than the Americans themselves. How strange, isn't it? In my view, Americans have the highest technology embedded in equipment (especially military, cybernetic) in the world.
-Third point: U.S.A bans Chinese technology giants from its territory, alleging alleged espionage.
-Fourth point: The technological dispute between the two nations is evident, and proves that both are in a fierce dispute over the technological and economic issue, who will come out well in the picture after all? Well, if they don't destroy themselves first (lol), who will win with technological advances, we are, but selfish disputes do not end well, to make matters worse, the disgrace is always left for the weaker, unfortunately.
-Fifth point: China has just announced that it has produced the most modern quantum computer in the world, thousands of times faster and more powerful than the most modern American computer until then (coming from a dictator country, I don't know if it's true, even because they are capable of anything, including lying, to gain advantage).
If in the cold war of the last century the dispute was relatively focused on military issues, we can say that the cold war of this century involving the two world powers is exclusively in the cybernetics area, as the modernization of virtual technology advances, artificial intelligence is more than ever knocking on doors, and it will be the main watershed of the future, the holders of this technology will be the controller of the population mass, and the cattle will be like an animal with a halter, they will guide blindly obeying the system, which is already being implemented and the result will not be anything promising, in fact freedom of expression/physics will have its days numbered.
