I can't understand it for you....And explaining it , is like asking for 40 cents...

in Proof of Brain3 years ago

It's a funny old world.
And, if that's truly the case, then things are about to get monumentally hysterical.

A nation can survive its fools, even the ambitious.
But it cannot survive treason from within....for the traitor appears not to be a traitor...he rots the soul of a nation...he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.

— Marcus Tullius Cicero (the term 'midwit' wasn't used in latin)

I knew a guy once who had a trucking business.
(not really trucking, but the words elude me right now, first coffee and all that).
His business was removing the broken up tarmac and debris from big road works projects.

He had around 20 trucks.
One day, a guy who'd worked for him for a year or two, came into his office and asked for pay rise.

"How much were you thinking?", Said The Boss.

" How about an extra 40 cents an hour ?", He replied.

"How about you empty your stuff from the truck, and fuck off ?", The boss said.

I asked him 'why', as it seemed a reasonable request (this was back in my naive days).

"I don't give a fuck about the 40 cents" The boss said, "But what I do give a fuck about is having a driver than doesn't have the intelligence to make his up his own wage from using my trucks".

The boss presumed that the drivers that he had, were making at least 50% more in income, from using his trucks in their own time (doing casual work for other people).

He went on " I want the people that are working for me to at least have the nouse and motivation to get off there arses, and take advantage of having my trucks at their disposal in 'out of work' hours".

THIS was a lesson.
...and I'd been well and truly schooled.

Some people will understand this lesson.
Others won't.

Or is it more of a case of 'the manipulators governing the governors?

That must have bin long ago , way before midwit office clerk's decided it to be unfair . Skilled people driving home in company transport , with tools and all , that then used this resources for private gain . It where not the bosses that wrecked it , most saw it as free advertising , as long as all resources got paid ,.. done in a honest way a boss could earn some extra on the trade to . No it was the numbers looking grey wall starring midwit taking the bus , train and bike to get home . He was fed up from waking up early on Saturday because some neighbor had something technical done by a friend for a fair prize .
So now all movements of company transport is monitored and any form of private use is taxed heavy , taking the company van to a amusement park in the weekend can now get you a thick fine for tax fraud .
Still the plumbers did not stop there private trade or skills , they just bought there own tools and car ,... waking up that midwit again on Saturday morning , busy replacing the bathroom for a friend .
Don't be a ass midwit , you got your company lease Tesla now ,.. and big bogus bonuses .
Now get a fucking life to .

LOL , long time ago i woke up many midwit's on Saturday ,... and Sunday .. ;-)

This got me thinking more than I'd care to admit this morning. Not for the trucker and his boss story I should add, I've worked in the trade and was able to pick up the meat of what was shared there.

Thinking?..Mmmmmm...a seemingly rare commodity in some parts...

I've been watching some blockchain transactions and I'm wondering if it's related to your request. Not sure if I want to share it on-chain considering the recent backlash. Never mind, maybe I'll kick up a fuss later on in the day once I've got some food in my belly.

???? ...Don't be scared! lol

Not sure if it's a case of being scared, more that I need to gather some more info before shooting my mouth. People in glass houses kind of deal.

Anyway, it seems like I'm starting to ramble on lol.

I can understand the boss's reaction. Had the employee just asked to use the truck, or if it was understood employees could use the trucks, then use the truck on side jobs. 30 years ago that would have worked. I am not so sure it would work today because of how insurance works.

I think (from what remember of the boss) - if insurance was ever the question - you'd probably have gotten fired for that, to! lol

Last boss i had , 50 men construction company , had one old van that he owned private , for employees to use for private things like moving stuff . You just had to put your name one a date on the calendar in the break/lunch room . For special equipped van's the boss was always willing to make fake entry's in his log's . The workplace , fully equipped was after company hours always open to employees that had some technical private stuff to fix , even for private trade . As long as you where honest , wrote down the resources you used of him and where willing to pay them . Mostly he never claimed the cash do , saw it as advertisement , and gave him room for bigger jobs , for most locals had there little technical problems solved by someone in not his time .

Now i hope not that some grey midwit reads this and send's the tax squad at them . Just because someone is creative , uses his skills , and makes a nice looking steel garden fence for his neighbor or friend ,.. doing the works , earning some cash or trade it for skills that an other has ,.. on the side , in his own time . ;-)

That is it, he allowed his people to earn outside of work hours, provided the tools and such, the guy that got fired likely did not want a side gig, just a nine to five job and expected others to take care of him. Worker in name only. I am surprised that kind of boss/company is still around in this day and age.

Don't be mistaken , it has nothing to do with kindness or goodness , that boss dropped me like a brick when my medical files declared me unfit for work . He didn't want me for a grey suit (office desk worker) , he needed commies for those positions , and twisted and turned himself like a snake to get me out .
Way before i got unfit i declared him a Peter Pan with no real care for the lost boy's . The ones that have the skills to create . His company has the lowest salary's around , and thinks he can compensate that with social structure . Just a capitalistic prick running a commie system , ..hell , the company made it's profit on trade to old East Germany ,.. and fucking China .
LOL, that visiting Chinees CCP delegation sure didn't like the artworks that where hanging around my workspace .. ;-)

No , a honest boss , that's a dying breed or just a image one puts on these days . They all learned the devil's trickery and how to wear a plastic smile .

And here I thought you had an old school boss, it is in times of distress that we really find who are good people and who are not.

When a job is crucial to survive you can't be to picky about the boss . Had 14 of those in 34 years . Learned already at early age , by watching my dad and his brothers do trade and run company's , that what they called ,.. the good old Dutch trade spirit ,.. was nothing more then playing the devil's games . Lie and cheat for the best deal behind a plastic smile . ,.... fucking midwit's ;-)

"I don't give a fuck about the 40 cents" The boss said, "But what I do give a fuck about is having a driver than doesn't have the intelligence to make his up his own wage from using my trucks".

I know that for most people it is easier to follow what someone says, than to think for yourself.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Ain't that the truth, and the ability to make the wrong choice of who to follow, is startling..

Hmm.....food for thoughts. The driver is definitely not doing a smart work, which is why he's asking for a raise instead of using what he has(Truck) to get what he wants(extra cash).

I do get a fragment of the message you're trying to pass here. Easy to win wars with your enemy but not an enemy within , who happens to be a friend.

If i may ask? Is there anything you'll like to share concerning why you'll like proofofbrain to undelegate it's pob delegation to you.

Oh wow, I learned a valuable lesson. It's far wiser to use the bosses stuff while he's not looking, than to ask him for some loose change. lol

Or as Rasheed Ogunlaru put it, " In leadership, life, and all things, it's far wiser to judge people by their deeds than their speech - their track record rather than their talk."

It depends on the psychology of your boss....A mid level management, midwit type, would not appreciate it! lol
