YOU ARE UNLIMITED!!

in Proof of Brain3 years ago

Most times, we humans tend to underestimate our personal capabilities. We label our problems as “insurmountable”, our goals “too ambitious”, obstacles “too hard to crush”.

We often forget that, as humans, there is no limit to what we can do.

I got the inspiration to write this post after I recently did something I never thought I could. It wasn't exactly easy, but I did it and I'm still here standing.

There are many reasons why a person can feel limited or not good enough. I'll be highlighting some of those factors and ways we can overcome them in this post.

ENVIRONMENT

I’m sure a lot of us know that the place where one grows up in matters a lot in shaping who a person gets to become.

A boy who comes from a ghetto is less likely to dream of becoming a big shot than one who’s from an “elite” community.

Of course, there are exceptions, there are always outliers in every dataset, but this rarely happens, and when it does, it has to be due to some other certain factors like one not wanting to be part of the herd, but all in all, there will still be certain traits of that community.

One thing to do if one finds him or herself in this category is to not let oneself be limited by the virtue of the place they come from. Know that there are always exceptions, that even though majority from the area don’t get to certain heights, you will surpass such heights. Draw inspiration from others who have managed to break glass ceilings despite the fact that they came from “underdog” communities.

LOW SELF-ESTEEM

This is a problem that is prevalent in the world, especially amongst young people. Having low self-esteem can also make one feel incapable of achieving a goal, like one will never be good enough.

People with low self-esteem tend to stay in their comfort zone. They feel wanting more might just disrupt that natural order of things they’ve managed to create over the years.

I was once suffering from not having enough self-esteem until I had enough of the problem. I started out by seeking out help from people who felt more comfortable in their own skin, tried doing new things, failed a lot but kept going at it. It took a while, but I’m no longer that scared little boy I was years ago. It took a lot of time before I actually started developing a bit, but my consistency eventually paid off.

I believe I’m a work in progress and I keep working on myself day by day.

PAST EXPERIENCE

Not a lot of people can dust off their shirts and pick themselves up after suffering a defeat. Some of us often cower at the sight or thought of defeat, and that in itself can eventually contribute to one’s attitude when faced with challenges.

While the thought of failure might serve as a source of motivation to some, others might be crushed by it.

I feel the first step towards overcoming this hurdle is by accepting the fact that failure is a constant factor. People have failed, and people will still continue to fail. But in that failure, there is success also. So rather than being afraid of failure, accept that it is a natural phenomenon that will always happen no matter how prepared you are. Accept it and draw strength from it.

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

There’s a popular saying which goes like this; “show me your friends, and I’ll tell you who you are”.

I’m sure a lot of us will agree with me that the kind of friends we walk with influence our attitude towards things, no matter how small.

We need to check and see if our circle of friends are not rubbing negative influence on us and limiting our potentials.

While other people may suggest we change our friends, I believe we don’t necessarily have to do that. We can turn the tables and choose to stand out amongst them and try to encourage them to also be better rather than abandoning them in search of “better friends”. TRY TO UPGRADE YOUR FRIENDS IF YOU FEEL THEY’RE BELOW YOUR LEVEL. But before doing that, you have to first work on yourself.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope this post will help you be what you truly are - unlimited!!

Yes o. We should not be in the midst of friend whose goals are not aiming positive things because they will surely affect one

Exactly bro. That might truncate a person's journey.
