Can we all agree that cooking and cleaning is a basic Life skill and not gender Roles?

In the modern era which we live in, considering cooking and cleaning as a women’s job just doesn’t make sense. For ages, cooking was considered as a skill which only women should know. This was due to traditional influence that the men are to provide for the family while the women's place, is in the kitchen and tidying up the house. If this wasn't imposed by our parents back in those days, men wouldn't have seen it as a gender roles.

Cooking and cleaning can be a passion for some people who enjoy doing them. If cooking is one’s passion, it cannot be considered as a chore; rather it can be a fun activity that makes you feel content seeing others enjoy your food. I could remember vividly a friend from Benue state, he cooks a lot and many girls fall for him because of his food. He used the fact that he knows how to cook to get girls 🤣, funny right? I actually do enjoy his food but I know there are still men out there who can cook but still find it as a gender roles for the women.

There should be a mutual understanding between family members that they should split the work according to ones capability, one may be good at cooking, while the other may be good at cleaning, the work shouldn't be just for the ladies in the house or the women. It's not always easy for the women to take care of the family, the house chores and her job is still there to take care of. Of course, no man wants to marry a liability in the house, gone are those days when men marry a full house wife just because they want to make a name for themselves, most men wants a hard working lady that will contribute to the family's growth and not just someone who will sit at home all day.

Society always try to define the role of a woman and how these roles should be carried out, she's expected to do some certain things and they forget that men are also to help or assist in their own way, but anytime she makes a mistake Or whenever something goes wrong, they put the blame on the women. Women should be treated with respect and care, at times when somethings goes wrong, we shouldn't jump into conclusion that it's the women's fault, but instead, we should investigate the matter before point fingers. Men may be at fault in some cases, women shouldn't be blamed for men's wrong doings.

Most women are more nurturing and men more goals oriented, no one is disputing that fact, but there are some women who are go-getters. What we're aiming at is gender equality Where everyone is treated equally and given equal rights irrespective of their gender.

Cooking and cleaning are basic skills everyone should learn, being clean and hygienic is a basic necessities, and there is no gender roles for that.

Parents needs to hear this. I can't blame men who thinks cooking and cleaning are for ladies alone. This is because it has been what has been instilled into them right from foundation. It's on parent's part to teach both boys and girls how to handle chores and not to enforce them on girls alone. We need to speak to the parents so they can tell their kids when they are still young.

Yeah you're totally right

I think a lot of the preconceived perception of gender roles comes from one’s upbringing but that can change in a person

I don’t remember when growing up myself ever being shown how to or showing any interest in learning how to cook, and perhaps that was common in that era
But for me I feel in a house and in a relationship it’s important to share responsibilities and jobs around a house I now love cooking and cook often for us and feel that’s how it should be
Same goes fir any other tasks around the home cleaning laundry etc I don’t see any of them being tied in anyway to gender

Plagiarist. Please check our comment above.

I have always hated cooking and even though i know how to, i would prefer not to.

Recently i was talking to a guy who said it was my role to cook in a relationship because he was raised in a home where women cooked and i made it clear that in my home, every gender cooked and it turned into an argument.

The sad part is that its not the first time i have had this argument.

Cooking and cleaning arent gender specific, i hope people learn this soon.

Yeah
Thanks for passing by ☺️

Me I want to marry a man that can cook very well 🙄 you know I'm Lazy nah

Men can cook a lot and some are even better cooks than women so why should that chore be given to only the women?

Maybe they should add it to our constitution so that they will know better.

I am not a great cook, and for the longest time I used to say I wasn't born to clean (but of course I want a clean house and therefore...)
My husband helps cook (he is a better cook by the way) and I do the washing up.
He vacuums and I move things around so things can finish faster.
I have gone on holiday to visit my brother and my husband has taken care of the kids for weeks, which means he has to do everything.
So, yes I agree with you ;D

Thank you for passing by ☺️

I really don't see cooking as a chore... It's a passion for me, something I love doing. I guess this is something my wife will enjoy when I get married because I will relief her from a lot.

I'm not actually like your friend who uses that fact to get girls though. 😂 😂.. Guess that's his own way of getting things done.

Just like you said, I see cooking and cleaning as basic skills everyone should learn.

I like the fact that you cook and is a passion for you but for some, it's a great work so they find it heard to enter the kitchen

Thanks for the contribution

It baffles me to see guys spend a lot in the restaurant while that amount can be used to cook something that will last them for sometime.

I just wish everybody will understand the advantage involved in learning how to cook
