Adding some value to the community

The children have had enough.

Having talked at length with my daughters homeschooling centre I decided to offer a free service.
Unsure if you know how the homeschooling system works here. It is not compulsory to attend the school, they provide a guide only with regards subjects suggested to be taught, and leave it to the parents.
Exams are based at home once a year.
My daughter aced it this year, straight A's all the way.

As more and more people take their children away from state schooling the homeschooling centre has seen a massive increase in enrolments.

So I have decided to offer free courses next summer for mechanics and motorbike riding.
This is going to be aimed at over 9's, boys and girls.

I have some spare fields so making a couple of small circuits for trials and motocross is not a problem.

With the children homeschooling I am trying to add some outdoor events for them during the long summer holidays.

And some hands on experience.

It seems at first glance I am going to need some public liability insurance and a descent amount of differing size protective gear.

I have a large collection of bikes so letting people use them will keep them active and save me having to ride them all myself, bonus.

Council approval.

One thing the school suggested was asking for permission from the local government.
That is not something I think that is necessary as I am not charging any fees and the land is mine.
The buildings/barns and workshops have been in place for decades so no land use change is required.

I do hope they take up my offer as there is a definite lack of space for young people to enjoy off road riding here.
There is also a lack of young people taking up motorbike riding.
I also note there is no youth centres and not a lot to do here in the summer for them.

It gets even worse once they leave school here. No nightclub, no nightlife to speak of.
There was a nightclub once upon a time I am told but it is long gone.

Motorbike mechanics are also in very short supply locally. Anything I can do to pass on my knowledge I will.

Fingers crossed it all works out.

Just a short article today.

Have a superb day.

I hope it all works out for you, it will make for a very enjoyable summer for you and your daughter if it does.

I will build a couple of off road tracks for the local children anyway.
So even if the school do not want to use it the locals can.

Very very important message to us in this great community

Good idea, I hope children will come and join.
I was all mad at how it is in my town, long before 2020. No place for teenagers to meet in public space. Nowhere you see signs or open rooms for young people under 18. Either you are a member of a club or you can "corner". Which is fine for me, what else shall the teens do if not standing around and gather? They cannot go to clubs or pubs, too young for that but too old for things where adults are present and watch over them. Outdoor sporting places like football fields and half pipes are there, but rare. In winter, it gets worse. Nowhere to be in a big city. People complain about the young gathering. They are "too noisy or disturbing" and all that jazz.

They have built a huge hall here in the city where you can re-enact what you see on youtube when young people "jump buildings". Street kids often provide the inspiration for things that are later professionalised and put "under safety". And, of course, earn money with it. I am ambivalent about this.

So I really like what you plan to offer. I hope it will work out.

Unlike all the farms around me I set aside some fields years ago, first it was for cows to graze and me to ride motorbikes. Then I made a 9 hole golf course to piss off the local mayor and not let him use it. Then he was voted out so I gave up golf. Then back to purely for bikes like now.

I am not a for profit farmer, I give away most of what we grow. So adding a bit more giving back to the community via youngsters seemed the next logical conclusion after the 20 months they have suffered.

Already got a couple of young lads that have bikes that want to join in. Word of mouth should do the rest.

LOL, I really wonder how you make profit, at all :) What comes around, goes around, is that true for you? Having some spare land to do what you like to do, is very desirable. I can only cherish it from the far. Would love though to give my son the opportunity, but then, he is not the slightest interested in engines. His uncle, whom I delivered your greetings tried him to catch interest but failed in doing so :) not his fault. Nobodies, actually.

Have a good day :)

Sounds awesome I hope it happens.

Going to get some of my friends who like looking into things like this to help me out.

That's an amazing idea. I'd do a first aid course too just in case. I did the St Johns Ambulance course when I was about 12 and have never forgotten what I learned so it's still good knowledge today. I have a yurt which I want to erect in my field but I need help, I could use it for courses and such too. I always liked teaching young'uns. Maybe I'll get something going eventually here. Nice work bro
