Shangrilla ( upper Kachura ) Beauty in Pakistan

in R2cornell5 years ago

This is Shangrila or Lower Kachura (Upper Kachura later) in the northern areas of Pakistan.
This was established in 1983 by Pakistan Army and has a unique restaurant that is built on the fusleage of an aircraft that crashed nearby.
Shangrila is named after a book called 'Lost Horizon' in which James Hilton narrates a tale in which an aeroplane crashed and the survivors came across some Buddhist monks. These monks took them to a beautiful monastery filled with fruits and flowers. This place was called Shangri-la, a Tibetan word meaning 'Heaven on earth'.
