Allpress Espresso - Possibly the best coffee in London ☕️

Allpress Espresso

POSSIBLY THE BEST COFFEE IN LONDON

Allpress Espresso.png

"We roast specialty coffee for the best independent cafés in the world. And for your kitchen too."

When I saw what the weather was going to be like today, and that I had no prior appointments for the day, I had to take the opportunity to visit London E2 and just walk around doing what I used to do here nearly everyday when I worked around here - take photos and enjoy a cafe. I will do an extensive post about this part of London, showcasing some of the photos from today, in a ”Have you been there” post at a later time.

As it happens, I am writing this while sat at the cafe, or outside it shall I say, that I am writing about today. It’s called Allpress Esprsso, and is hands down has one of the best coffee in this city. When I used to come here back in the day, the cafe was actually bigger than this. There was the indoor sitting area, which is still there, and a backroom where they actually roasted and ground the coffee beans themselves. The smell that came out of there was simply heavenly.

They seem to have lost that backroom to another shop now, so they only have as much space as they used to. Incidentally, the shop that took the space is just as fragrant since it’s a kind of essential oils shop, serving up its own divine smells. I’m not sure if they still roast their own beans, I can imagine they do somewhere else, but they don’t do it at the cafe anymore as far as I can see. Perhaps this happened as a downsizing thing due to the pandemic? That’s pure speculation on my part. I simply don’t know. I would have asked one of the barristers, but it was so busy there that I didn’t feel like holding up the queue with a casual chat.

I ordered a long black, as usual, and opted for a ceramic cup instead of a takeaway cup even though I was to sit outdoors. This was so I could get nice photos for you guys :). See what I go through for you? Sigh. I did end up drinking my coffee a little quickly so it didn’t get too cold. It came with hot water, but I didn’t feel like diluting it.

The coffee itself tasted incredible. I have no idea what beans were used, like from whence they came, but they tasted similar to South American beans - perhaps Peruvian? Who knows. All I know is that it was one of the best cups of long black coffee I’ve had in a very long time.

I’m more than glad to be here again after what must have been two years. The area has changed a bit too, but the stylishness of the people here is still the same. At the point of writing this, I was only halfway through my walk, and this was a pit stop. I may well break my one coffee a day rule and stop over at Nude Espresso in a couple of hours for another shot. It claims to be the “best coffee in London”. We shall see about that ;)

Post Coffee Scriptum

Ok, so I'm home now and I got a chance to lookup Allpress Espresso and it turns out they're more than just a coffee shop in Shoreditch, East London. In fact, they are a company that have been around for a while, roasting coffee for independent cafes around the world! It's possible that many of the cafes in London, who's coffee I've enjoyed in the past, are actually using Allpress' coffee roasts! It's no surprise then that, in terms of the coffee taste, I rate this coffee shop really highly, if not at the very top, of cafes in London.

In case you're in the area and want to visit this coffee shop, it's at 58 Redchurch St, Shoreditch, London E2 7DP.☕️

Peace & Love,

Adé

This was so I could get nice photos for you guys :)

I am sure it is because it tastes better 😋

I like the clean minimalistic vibe of the cafe. Reminded me of today's experience at MAC, it was the opposite of "clean", though the coffee tasted good. (I was desperate)

I need to perform a scientific test of ceramic vs paper cup for coffee :)

Long life to coffee ☕️

I had a sleeping issue the last time l took coffee but its my favourite drink. Thanks for sharing sir.

:) Yeah coffee can affect your sleep :)

Hello @adetorrent,

The name of the shop is intriguing and makes me already visualise a strong rich cup of coffee being served.
In this economical climate, it is great to hear and see the coffee shop industry booming.
You've taken some nice photos of the coffee shop, and I have a set of espresso cups just like that one:)

I also believe that they probably gave up the back room due to the pandemic, but as you've mentioned, aromas from essential oils is equally pleasing.

It's great to see you hanging out at coffee shops again.

Oh, and Nude Espresso is another great name for a coffee shop; if you do get to visit, I would like to hear a review of it also.

THanks for stopping by, have a great weekend:)

It's always my pleasure. It's my favourite community on here haha.

I think the cafes here have done well. This is going to be a great season for them as people start meeting up again and enjoying the simple pleasures in life. We've taken this for granted for long and people are finding immense joy in just sitting across the table from a friend and chatting over a brew.

Hey Adé, I think you are spot on about that.
Social distancing and confinement have made people more aware of so many things we took for granted:)> Quote

I do not drink coffee often, but if I am ever in London, you've made a great case for this shop...

Hahaha. I'm glad. I think they deserve it.
