Well, many of you already know that apart from being a coffee lover, I am a compulsive fanatic collector of mugs, and that if I had all the ones I have bought or been given throughout my life right now, I would not have space to put them, but definitely, I am forced to put them in high places out of reach of mischievous little hands and feet that could break them, and for constant use, definitely the plastic or pewter ones. The porcelain ones are for special occasions, that is, just for me, ha ha ha.
But this post I'm sharing with you today is a true tribute to mug collectors like me... let me tell you about it. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to visit a farm in the plains area where I live, because we celebrated my daughter's gym's second anniversary there. The decor of the place was very typical of the countryside but with some urban touches inside.
What caught my attention, after the wonderful nature that surrounded us, was the display of handicrafts in the kitchen, totally typical of the plains but with some touches from Mérida. The lady who openly offered us this space has an immense collection of cups and coffee pots made of clay, porcelain, ceramics, and so on. I didn't take pictures of all the cups she had stored in baskets, but I did take pictures of those that adorned the shelves on the wall.
It was simply wonderful to admire so many beautiful and very original designs, there were even some shaped like corn cobs. They are collector's items, for decoration; I would never use them for everyday use, and neither would the owner, which is why she had a wide variety of cups for everyday use, mostly plastic, and her kitchen would not be complete without the cloth strainer that is the hallmark of the guayoyo of the plains.

Hola a todos, muy buenos días. Bueno, ya muchos saben que aparte de ser amante del café, soy una fanática adicta compulsiva de coleccionar tazas, y que si tuviera ahora mismo todas las que he comprado o me han obsequiado en toda mi vida, no tendría espacio para colocarlas, pero definitivamente, ya me veo obligada a colocarlas en sitios altos lejos del alcance de manitas y patitas traviesas que me las puedan quebrar, y para el uso constante, definitivamente, las de plástico o peltre. Las de porcelana quedan para momentos especiales, o sea, sólo para mí, jajajaja.
Pero este post que les comparto hoy es un verdadero homenaje a los coleccionistas de tazas como yo… ahora les cuento. Este fin de semana pasado, tuve la oportunidad de visitar una finca en el sector llanero donde vivo, porque ahí celebramos el segundo aniversario del gym de mi hija. La decoración del lugar muy típica de campo pero con algunos toques urbanos en su interior.
Lo que me atrapó después de la naturaleza maravillosa que nos rodeaba, fue la exhibición de artesanías en la cocina, totalmente típica del llano pero con algunos toques merideños. La señora que nos ofreció abiertamente este espacio, posee una inmensa colección de tazas y cafeteras de barro, porcelana, cerámica, y paren de contar. No le tomé fotos a todas las tazas que tenía guardadas en unas cestas, pero sí a las que adornaban las repisas ubicadas en la pared.
Era sencillamente maravilloso poder admirar tantos diseños hermosos y muy originales, hasta había unas con la forma de una mazorca. Son piezas de colección, para adornar, yo no las usaría jamás para el día a día, y la dueña definitivamente tampoco, por eso tenía una gran variedad de tazas para el uso diario, de plástico en su mayoría, y no podía faltar en su cocina el colador de tela que es el sello del guayoyo de los llaneros.

I love your mug collection. It's very classic and very pretty. When I see these mugs, it reminds me of when I used to drink coffee with my grandmother and we would tell stories all day long. Best regards!
