During our 4th month celebration, I surprised @octocel with some kind of different flowers. They were some species of Chrysanthemums, usually known as mums or chrysanths. These pretty flowers look like pom-poms. Yes, the ones used by cheerleaders in their routines. Around here, they are given that name as well. Maybe, it has to do with Chrysanthemums being a very long name and hard to remember. Some of their species also look like Margaritas. However, they are of different colors. They deep violet hue in their petals is amazing.
However, there was an initial reaction on her part. I was waiting with the flowers sitting next to some people minding their business. The trip from the flower ladies up to the mall is always weird. Some people look at me and smile; others, look at me puzzled by the fact I'm walking around with flowers on my hands. Couples get a bit distracted. I bet more than once a guy has wished for not to see me alongside his girlfriend. Maybe some girl has told her boyfriend she wants some flowers. I don't try to encourage the behavior or discourage. I like flowers and giving.
Going back to the adverse reaction, here's what happened. I got a private comment from my girlfriend. She likes flowers. The fact of receiving them in public makes her feel uneasy. I can understand that. Nevertheless, I didn't tell it at the moment, but the whole act of going for the flowers, picking them, and then delivering them to her hands is just an act of love. I do not work far away neither I'm too busy to deliver them myself. I explained this to her. Besides, people around just do not care one bit about who gets what or in what way. People tend to care about flowers in special days. I saw people handing flowers during the beginning of spring. I didn't even though she told me about it after the fact. Flowers are not cheap. So until my finances are better, I can't afford to buy them more than once a month.
The original misunderstanding got solved for a moment. And we settled up buying some coffee to the time to admire the colors of the flowers. We had a sweet treat to accompany the coffee and to celebrate the fact that whenever some issue of any category arises, we can talk about it without diminishing the way the other person feels. I also took the chance to remind her that the public romantic gesture could be bigger and worse than it actually is. And for a moment, we laugh a lot about the fact of making big signs and hiring musicians. We couldn't make out what songs we would use in such a situation nor the tokens of love. Could it jewelry, big stuffed animals, food, a combination of all the others?
We just took our sips of coffee and kept silent and staring at each other for some time. And that was all needed to understand that the little gestures have their own charm.

Flowers are beautiful, and it's an act of love to give them to your loved one. I get emotional when someone gives them to me, even if it's in public. The gesture is what I appreciate most.
