On February 4 of this year 2022, I visited, together with my wife, the old La Estancia coffee plantation, located in the Chacao Municipality, Miranda State - Venezuela. While I was there, I saw one of the workers who was fumigating some coffee plants, we approached and began to talk with him. Maximiliano, Agronomy technician and worker at the PDVSA La Estancia Art Center, a kind gentleman who treated us with great courtesy, explained that his job is to be aware of the gardening area and specifically control plant parasites so that they are productive.

El pasado 4 de febrero de este año 2022, visité, junto a mi esposa, la antigua hacienda cafetalera La Estancia, ubicada en el Municipio Chacao, Estado Miranda - Venezuela. Estando en el lugar vi a uno de los trabajadores que estaba fumigando unas plantas de café, nos acercamos y comenzamos a conversar con él. Maximiliano, técnico en Agronomía y trabajador del Pdvsa Centro de Arte La Estancia, caballero amable que nos atendió con mucha cortesía, nos explicó que su trabajo consiste en estar pendiente del área de jardinería y específicamente controlar los parásitos de las plantas para que sean productivas.

The friend Maximiliano also informed us that they had just harvested the ripe coffee beans, for that reason, the plants were without fruit and at that moment they were beginning to bloom again. I took the opportunity to tell him a story from my childhood related to coffee. Below my story:

Divine Providence wanted me to be born in a Land of Grace, Venezuela; specifically in a large fertile valley, bathed by beautiful rivers, guarded by imposing mountains that make my region a bucolic ideal place to live. In my childhood and young years I was able to see the great fields of sugar cane and coffee and visit the great mills and haciendas where the grain of the gods was processed. Today there are no mills but there is still a coffee farm which I visited a few years ago, there I was able to learn the whole process until I tasted a cup of the aromatic and delicious drink.

Quiso la Providencia Divina que yo naciera en una Tierra de Gracia, Venezuela; específicamente en un gran valle fértil, bañado de hermosos ríos, vigilado por imponentes montañas que hacen de mi región un bucólico lugar ideal para vivir. En mi niñez y años mozos pude ver los grandes sembradíos de caña de azúcar y de café y visitar los grandes trapiches y las haciendas donde procesaban el grano de los dioses. Hoy no existen los trapiches pero aún queda una hacienda de café la cual visité hace algunos años, allí pude aprender todo el proceso hasta degustar una taza de la aromática y deliciosa bebida.

Pure and crystalline water from the source of the river, collected in a pot that is later mounted on the improvised stove of a burning wood stove, sugar, panela or paper to sweeten, ground and high quality coffee in a bag or strainer receiving the boiling water that slides gently into the coffee maker while its aroma permeates the entire place, the eager cups await the coffee so that the lips feel its warmth and the palate its wonderful flavor. This is the magic of the countryside, I experienced it when I visited the family of my beautiful friend Evelin Ernest at the Santo Cristo farm in the Zamurito sector of the Zamora Municipality, Miranda State.

Agua pura y cristalina de la naciente del rio, recogida en una olla que posteriormente se monta en la hornilla improvisaada de un fogón a leña encendido, azúcar, panela o papelón para endulzar, café molido y de alta calidad en una funda o colador recibiendo el agua hirviente que se desliza suavemente hasta la cafetera mientras su aroma impregna todo el lugar, las tazas anciosas esperan el café para que los labios sientan su calor y el paladar su maravilloso sabor. Esto es la magia del campo, eso lo viví cuando visité a la familia de mi bella amiga Evelin Ernest en la hacienda Santo Cristo en el sector Zamurito del Municipio Zamora, Estado Miranda.

After this brief story, we said goodbye to our new friend Maximilian with the commitment to return to continue talking and, if possible, to see all the stages of coffee processing.

      Yesterday, March 4, a month after that meeting, my wife and I went back to visit the PDVSA La Estancia Art Center but it was closed, so we went to the Sambil Shopping Center to taste a rich and delicious mocaccino with some delicious sweets.

NOTE: THE STORY OF THE COFFEE IN THE SAMBIL SHOPPING CENTER WILL BE RELATED IN ANOTHER PUBLICATION. For now, I can only thank you for coming this far and at the same time ask you to receive a strong and warm hug full of blessings, positive energy and lots of light.

Concluída esta breve historia nos despedimos de nuestro nuevo amigo maximiliano con el compromiso de regresar para seguir conversando y si era posible poder ver todas las etapas del procesamiento del café.

      Ayer, 04 de marzo, un mes después de aquel encuentro, mi esposa y yo volvimos a visitar a Pdvsa Centro de Arte La Estancia pero estaba cerrada por lo que nos trasladamos al Centro Comercial Sambil a degustar nuestro acostrumbrado rico y delicioso mocaccino con unos deliciosos dulces.

NOTA: LA HISTORIA DEL CAFÉ EN EL CENTRO COMERCIAL SAMBIL LA RELATARÉ EN OTRA PUBLICACIÓN. Por ahora solo me queda darle las gracia por llegar hasta aquí y a la vez pedirle que reciba un fuerte y caluroso abrazo cargado de bendiciones, energía positiva y mucha luz.

Wow, your post made me feel a little homesick.
The land in Venezuela looks so similar to my home country, Jamaica. I can recall childhood days spent playing in cane fields and also the harvesting of sugarcane, burning and transporting it in tractors and trailers.
I also remember the black remnants from the sugarcane trash. I always had to stop playing in the streets and hurry to take my clothes off the line. Otherwise, the black ashes in the air would fall on my clothes. Sweet memories 😍

Coffee Plantations though; Unfortunately I never got the chance to visit Blue Mountain Coffee plantations. Hopefully, I'll still get to do so one day:)
The big difference with Jamaica and Venezuela is that coffee was never as common a household item as it is for Venezuelas. Jamaicans do love their tea, and believe that tea cures all common sicknesses...this could be from the British colony days.

It's great that you got to have your favourite moccacino and treats. Always breaks the week up nicely.

Hello friend @millycf1976 Now it's me who thanks you for your memory, exactly the same thing happened to us when they burned the sugar cane planks, my uncle Rafael and my grandfather worked cutting cane, stacking and loading the trucks we called bitch, when the As boys, we saw that the fox was coming or the truck that was transporting the cane to the sugar mills, we would run after it and the older boys would get on it and throw cane that the rest of us picked up... Wow, we were very happy. Oh and we also had to pick up the clothes when they burned. I visited some sugar mills and some coffee plantations. My mother was born in the old El Norte coffee farm (so called because it was located north of the municipality). Venezuela was a great producer of coffee and cocoa. Thank you for your comment that reminded me of my happy childhood, thank you for your friendship from a distance and thank you for your support. Hola amiga @millycf1976 Ahora soy yo quien te da las gracias por tu recuerdo, exactamente igual nos pasó cuando quemaban los tablones de caña de azúcar, mi tío Rafael y mi abuelo trabajaron cortando caña, apilando y cargando los camiones que llamábamos zorra, cuando los muchachos veíamos que venía la zorra o el camión que transportaba la caña hacia los trapiches salíamos corriendo detrás y los chicos mayores se montaban y lanzaba caña que los demás recogíamos... Wow eramos muy felices. Ah y también teníamos que recoger la ropa cuiando quemaban. Yo visité algunos trapiches y algunas haciendas de café. Mi mamá nació en la antigua Hacienda cafetalera El Norte (Así llamada porque estaba ubicada al norte del Municipio) Venezuela fue gran productor de café y de cacao. Gracias por tu comentario que me hizo recordar mi infancia feliz, gracias por tu amistad desde la distancia y gracias por tu apoyo. [NG] I am glad that you take the beautiful word Bucolic or Bucolic. It is a beautiful adjective. According to the dictionary of the Spanish language: deals with matters related to country life. I like to use it because it takes me to nature and makes me remember my origins, it takes me back to the land, the countryside.

[ESP] Me alegra que tomes la hermosa palabra Bucólico o Bucólica. Es un bello adjetivo. Según el diccionario de la lengua española: trata asuntos relacionados con la vida campestre. A mi me gusta usarla porque me lleva a la naturaleza y me hace recordar mis orígenes, me remonta a mi la tierra, el campo.
