You remember the Specialty Place 23 from my post from quite some time ago? They were thinking of starting to sell specialty coffee, but back at the time I visited the place, this wasn’t available yet. A friend of mine who makes shared purchases from Dabov Specialty Coffee actually is a regular customer of the Specialty place in our town and lately he has tried the already available packaged coffee.

The “19 grams” specialty coffee roasters seems to be a decent company with high quality products. Their bags are similar to the Dabov ones, but they are a bit bigger - 250 grams. The price is quite similar and I really think of buying some varieties from the 19 grams roastery.

When we visited my friend I saw this coffee and insisted on trying it. He told me this was the filter blend, but I decided to go for an
Espresso shot. My friend hasn’t tried this, but told me this coffee was tasting excellent on the V60.
Hand grinders… I had forgotten the feeling of hand grinding your own coffee and this grinder looks quite fancy. Although it’s relatively hard to grind on this one, it’s a very fast one. I think I managed to grind about 10 grams of coffee with like 25-30 rotations. This was going to take about 100 rotations on my Hario manual grinder.

My friend has bought this coffee brewing scale too, but claimed that it’s cheap and does not work properly. I’m really thinking of a simile scale to buy, but the quality comes with some greater price. I think it’s not possible to find a good working scale for less than $50.

This coffee turned out to be very sweetly and delightful. I enjoyed it a lot and after having it, definitely feel like buying one for myself.
Today I opened a Honduras Caballero - a coffee that I haven’t purchased for a good amount of time, maybe more than 6 months. I decided to buy it because it was a favorite of me for its decent quality and relatively low price. It has some distinctive fruity notes like banana and melon and finishes quite creamy and soft.

I noticed that it’s beans are somehow less dense and after grinding them they became very fluffy, if It’s possible to describe it so.
My wife wanted to go for filter and I was more than happy with the decision, because she prefers espresso coffee lately. I can tell that Saturday coffee starts a lot better with V60 coffee. It gives this feeling of relaxation and peacefulness. Espresso on the other side is the fast and boosting starter of the day. I don’t need that in the weekend 😁

My wife has already decorated with some pretty chestnuts and other autumn stuff. The color of the candle brings a lot of warmth in the whole setup.

And the coffee? Enjoyable as always. I think that I can start buying it again from time to time, because it’s really balanced and tasty. Let the weekend begin happy and peaceful! Wish you warm weekend with a lot of smiles and great moments.

Bye!
I always like seeing all of the equipment you use. It's super cool. The coffee sounds good. Fruity! Sounds nice.
Fancy coffee brewing gear has always been my passion! The coffee in our home is treated in a special manner! 😁
Hey there!
It's looking like autumn for sure. The orange candle arrangement and Chestnut are appealing together, and I like the look of the manual grinder too:)
This grinder was really strange to hold. This abrasive texture of the cylinder really gives you the grip needed for grinding the beans, but is a bit strange feeing 😁
Autumn is really here! All the trees are turning yellow and orange and the temperatures are really low at nighttime!
Yeah, I noticed the texture, and I now see the reason for it...probably just some getting used to it and it could be a great buy.
Yes, we noticed the change in temperature too. The trees don't go that orange here, but yes, the leaves are turning yellow and falling now.
I miss living on the boat, and soon I will be away in Jamaica... but if all goes well I'll be back on a boat come Spring:)))
Have a lovely Sunday!
Living on a boat always sounded like a very unique experience. I’m sure you’ll be very happy in Jamaica too! After all the Blue mountain coffee is said to be one of the finest in the world. Maybe some Jamaican rum will be a great company! 😁
How do you prepare coffee in Jamaica? Maybe when you’re back you can share this in a post!
Yes, going to Jamaica is my number 1 priority, but definitely, it's amazing living on the boat.
Tea is the preferred and more popular beverage in the mornings in Jamaica. That's a remnant of the British I think.
The last time when we were visiting and my husband told my mum that he loves coffee, she was so pleased with herself and presented him with a jar of Instant Coffee when he arrived. 🤣
We had to go and purchase a basic old-fashioned coffee maker with filters. Ground coffee is actually expensive, so we get the High Mountain coffee instead of the one labeled Blue Mountain Coffee.
This time I'll take a Moka pot, and my mum already mentioned that the coffee maker we purchased last time should be somewhere in the house 🤣
We're hoping that we'll get the chance to visit Blue Mountain Peak, which would be fantastic!
I haven't been back in ages, so things could have changed.
When I left Jamaica in 2007, I gave up my dream of opening a coffee shop in Montego Bay, and chose to go studying and traveling instead.
... From what I heard the coffee culture was catching on in Kingston and other tourist towns... but in homes, I was never exposed to traditional way of making coffee or anything similar to what the Venezuelans do.
Opening a coffee place seems like a dream for a lot of people in this community… 😁
Hope you’ll have great time in Jamaica!
P.S. the instant coffee jar is a funny situation, but all of this is just an act of kindness of your mum!
Honduran coffee will always be something incredible :D
By the way that grinder looks pretty modern, I remember that to grind coffee at home we had to use a totally big and strambotico, was the one used to grind corn and wheat, but left the coffee finely ground, of course with a little taste of aluminum or iron haha.
This old style grinding was definitely very interesting, and with the addition of this iron taste makes coffee even more special 😁
The things have changed so much… and they keep on getting better. Thanks for the reply!
I like the autumn vibes brother. I like that you rock some fancy coffee beans, that looks like some good stuff. Im due to buy some new stuff but its a mission out here.
!BEER
New coffee stuff is always exciting purchase for me. Indeed, autumn is here…
I hope that whatever times come, I’ll always be able to buy quality and fancy coffee beans to enjoy!
