Warm greetings all! 🙏 💚
The last few days here in Lower Puna have been quite rainy, with a very tumultuous ocean, due the tropical storm which is passing through this part of Hawai'i. The morning started off rainy, but thankfully the sun came out not too far into the afternoon. A few of us from The Sanctuary of The Blue Dragon, in Seaview, decided to walk to the the beach (Kehena, our locally beloved black-sand beach that has been traditionally clothing-optional since 1955), for a while, before we headed to The Lawn, the culmination of Sunday Funday here in Lower Puna.
Arriving at Kehena, we were greeted with the largest waves I've ever seen in my four and a quarter years coming to this beach. They went all the way to the cliffs at the back of the beach, so there was no safe, dry place to put anything. The waves also carved out a huge chunk of rock on the path down on the Seaview side, requiring a bit of climbing. Because there was no safe spot to put things, we didn't stay long at the beach today. Way too intense! I also forgot to take photos at the beach, in part because I didn't feel particularly safe using my phone on the beach with such massive waves, so sadly I have no photos.
We walked to The Lawn, and found fewer people than usual for the time, but soon the whole area was filled with hundreds of people, including many vendors, and of course the drum circle. I ran into several friends, I did a wonderful Integral Cross-Training practice in the grass, I had a sound healing session with a didgeridoo, I danced my cute little tush off, and to top it off, I got some glorious Ethiopian food!
