Social media is a platform where content,ideas and news are being published. It is also a means of socializing with people from different geographical locations and countries. We have a lot of social media platforms which include Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and so many other ones. The common goal of this social media platforms is to enhance socialization among people.
There are many advantages of social media which include brand awareness, connecting with love ones irrespective of their location and many more. Infact some generate their source of income by becoming a content creator on various social media platforms. The rate at which content creator increase daily on various social media platforms is alarming and this affect the quality of content they released out to the public.
I know of someone who grew her business brand through the use of social media platform. The funny thing is that she did not have a physical shop, All she does is to promote her business online and she's making huge some of money from it.
Even though the use of social media is advantageous in various ways yet the disadvantages outweighs the advantage day by day. Instead of using social media platforms in a positive way many use them negatively.
Few day ago, I across a video online, A seventeen year old boy was interogated by a journalist. It was discovered that this young boy had a secret diary where he wrote down the names of those who offended him. One of his your brother discovered the secret diary in his room. It was so shocking when a long list of names was found in the diary. He also added what he planned to do with does people and the date he will execute his plan. It was said that he already killed four of out of the people he listed in the secret diary. When he was asked how he killed those people, he said he got the contact of an herbalist on a social media who assisted him in killing. That's so disheartening.
If I must say the truth, Social media has done more harm than good to many youth in Nigeria. If I'm opportune to ban one social media platform it will be no other platform than TikTok. TikTok has done a lot of harm than good to Nigerian youths. The application promotes nudity, you will see the so called content creators on TikTok going to the extreme just to get more likes, comment and followers. Many of them dance half naked just to get many likes and followers. The truth is that many youth are copying what they see on Tiktok, thinking that's the best way to live. Student no longer read or study hard as a result of distraction from this platform. You see them joining various TikTok dance Challenge that promotes nudity and immorality.
Few weeks ago I board a bus with a woman, this woman almost fell off from the commercial bus while doing a trending dance step on Tiktok. She was so engrossed that she did notnoticed she was close to the door. Can you imagine that.
If one is not careful, one will end up using all the product time getting distracted and viewing other people dance steps on TikTok. Another reason why I dislike TikTok is that it consumes a lot of data, Despite how expensive the data rate is, some people can't do without going on Tiktok. If one is not careful, one can become addicted to it without realizing it.
With the above reasons, I think the number one social media platform I would ban is TikTok. I know many of you won't like it, but that's my opinion anyway...😉

When it comes to content creation, tiktok has boosted a lot of people's career, in fact a lot of people discovered their talents through tiktok. I know tiktok might have been used for committing atrocities but i believe the issue is with the users not the platform
Anyway, you are right. But irrespective of that, I believe there ought to be rules that should guide the platform so as to regulate the kind of content being posted by the content creators
I'm not a Tiktok user and I'm not irritated by those who invest their time on this video platform, I prefer text so I have nothing to do there! !BBH
