Pollution can be defined as contamination of environment with hazardous element. Such elements are called as pollutants. Pollution is no longer a hidden problem of this planet. We are quite familiar with several of its types including air pollution, water pollution, land pollution, noise pollution, light pollution etc. These are the kind of pollution that are known to destroy the ecosystem of the earth in tangible ways. While a lot of literature is already available on them, I don't feel like anything new to talk about them. However , I want to grab the opportunity to talk about the type of pollution and pollutants that are overlooked.
Allow me to talk about
The Moral Pollution
The moral pollution is the source of many evils in the society. The, unkindness, indifference, hatred, many psychological and social problems are increasing because of the pollution of morality.
Below is the list of pollutants that I have observed around me causing the destruction of morality and peace of mind.
Advertisement
Today’s world is bombarded with advertisement of unlimited products. From electronic and print media to the streets and roads are all having some kind of advertisement there. These advertisements keep on telling people what they lack in their lives and how much the particular product it is important for them to be successful. It creates a lot of discomfort in people's life when they believe that they are incomplete or incompetent if they lack tall height, long hair, fair complexion, etc.
Some of the ads are inculcating life threatening behaviors in the viewers. Some encourage them to involve in health destroying activities such as smoking and alcoholism. There are some other advertisements that motivate people for instant gratification.
As a whole, the advertisements pollute the human morality by creating ingratitude, dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety, impatience and materialism.
Media
The media is another important pollutant that has a lot of negative impact on human morality. Most of the time, the news has something negative to offer. It keeps on telling about the stories of hatred, rivalries, robberies, injustice, dishonesty, barbarism, bla bla. It gives a view that this world is at the verge of chaos and nothing good is left in it; all the people have become savages and the a place of peace is hard to find. As a result, people have been caged in stereotypes. The hate each other without having any first hand experience. It becomes difficult for people to trust one another and the paranoia develops. It results in lack of sympathy and helpfulness.
Besides, listening and watching the same bad acts over and over again result in creating indifference. People no more care about wrong happenings around them. Instead, they start seeing them as normal.
Social Media
The adverse effect of social media are not hidden from anyone. Many people live a fake life in their social media accounts. By lying and faking in the world of social media , they want to fill up the void of their lives. It only results in more meaninglessness and emptiness.
On the other hand, there are people who become the victim of inferiority complex, poor self-esteem, anxiety and depression by looking at the glamorous pictures of their counterparts.
Palmtops
I remember a time when we had gatherings with friends, cousins and relatives; We used to be so happy and excited for this. We shared laughter and hugs. But what's happening now…….! In the gatherings all of us have our own tablets or mobiles. Kids and adults are all busy with social media or games on their palmtops. No one has the time to see in another person’s life. we have no time to empathize with our loved ones. we have forgotten to talk. That’s why our happiness have become short lived and the sorrows live longer.
This kind of unsocial behavior is one of the major reasons for creating the feeling of loneliness among individuals. This loneliness becomes the first step towards various pathologies. Moreover, many games have been found to be causing boredom and depression among kids. It means our younger generation is going to develop with negative mindset.
Brands
I also take brands as a pollutant of morality. People have been in a race to access and buy products of brands. The brands have put us in a continuous race of materialism. These brands are a source of boosting the fake egos. They are the means of creating enormous differences among people belonging to different social classes. As a consequence, false pride, increased prejudice, distorted self- esteem and depression emerge in the society.
How To Rectify Moral Pollution
The first step for rectifying any problem is to acknowledge its existence. With regard to moral pollution, it is important to acknowledge that it is something worthy of attention. The second step is to acknowledge and accept its contributors. Then we can move forward in the rectification process.
At the individual level, we need to add spiritualism in our lives so that we can undermine the effects materialism. Secondly, we need to put conscious efforts to keep the pollutants of morality in a limit. For instance, we can limit the hours we are any social media; We can boost conversation in our real- world gatherings; we ought to give quality time to our loved one; we ought to find pleasure in more meaningful actions etc.
FINAL WORDS
Along with many other kinds of pollution, Moral Pollution is also needed to be acknowledged. It is a pollution that is destroying the peace of humanity in multiple ways. By putting conscious efforts to rectify this pollution, we can build up a world where people are more considerate, kind, helpful, patient and grateful.

It's sad that internet has changed the way things are done. We no longer have proper relationship because we are glue to our phones all day. And the human interaction is slowing lost as we live daily.
I don't think you should feel completely bad about the advertisement. They're simply trying to sell and they will use all sort of emotional support to get their way. It's part of business, please, don't take it personally. 🙃
Aaaaaah! The harsh truths of consumerism are difficult to digest.... For the sake of marketing and selling they shake your psychological health quite badly. The only thing that matters to them is the sale of their product. No matter what consequences it would bring on the society. The irony is if you try to call for censorship, you would be regarded as against the freedom of expression.

A wonderful and unique perspective of the problems associated with pollution in the world today. These moral impediments to a more wholesome and integrated life need careful study and eradication. Our constant need to engage in the noise and distraction created by them, results in further proliferation of the issues. Nicely discussed Amber. I hope more people take note!!!

There are several things around us that pollute the very content of humanity among us and make us indifferent and insensitive. We really need to be aware about them.
Wooww. This is a different side of pollution I have never thought about before. It’s a really good thing to think out of the box. The effect social media has on us is unbelievable, some people do not even know that social media has that kind of effect on them. I’ve been on a social media break and the only social media I’m on is Hive.
Hive is different from other social media. It is blogging and writing, detailed and genuine to much extent.
On other media like FB, insta, tiktok etc. are more fake.

Nice and creative approach to this. Everything you highlighted here is another solid reminder that everything we see on television or everything we see on the internet does not have to be followed because some of them are very misleading.
The funny thing is that media agencies do not mind advertising anything as far as they get paid for it. We've all got to be mindful of what we feed our mind.

You have tackled the issue of pollution from a very good angle and one that is little explored or that perhaps people turn a blind eye to. Or maybe because they are immersed in that pollution often don't realize it.
