Social Media Isn’t the Problem; How You Use It Is the Key

in Hive Learnersyesterday

Nowadays, we're all connected in some way or another through social media platforms. It feels like a time gone by, and people used to text and call. It's not that calling doesn't exist anymore; people around the world still make a lot of calls. You'll often find couples and parents still talking to their children on the phone. Video calls are the norm these days, and people have become a little more advanced. We're inevitably dependent on social media platforms in some way, whether it's WhatsApp or Instagram. Numerous social media platforms have emerged. We often think that the platform should be shut down so our children can use it less and use their time more effectively. However, we've seen many people around us who are generating significant revenue using these social media platforms. Every thing has two sides, you can use that thing in the right way or you can misuse it, it depends on what you want to do, many people want to consume content but do not want to create it, well everyone starts one day or the other, so if you also want to become a content creator, then you will have to start for it one day or the other.

Sometimes we also think that this particular platform should be shut down, but see, that is not going to happen because whatever is related to social media platforms is a very big industry and many businesses are connected to it. Nowadays, you will see that any business wants to bring it online and mostly the only way to expand it is to increase its reach on social media like Instagram and YouTube. Through all these things, you connect with your customers and other users. Actually, there is no profit of any kind in shutting down any social media platform because see, if you shut down one social media platform today, then tomorrow another company will emerge because many users use social media platforms and they will definitely find some alternative to all these things. Well, there are many platforms available around us, like Discord, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, OnlyFans, and many more, through which you can connect, and you can consume many types of content. If I share the list, then this list will probably be in thousands, but I know about only a few platforms.

Well, if you ban something specific, then people will get it in some way or the other, like people using Bipin to consume content from many such websites which are not available in their particular country and nowadays so many technologies have come through which you can do everything sitting at one place, all you need is an internet connection and a few tools which are easily available for free these days. So the bottom line is that if you try to ban something, then the people who use it will definitely find some way to use it and maybe even find some alternative to it. See, banking anything is not a solution to the problem, in such a situation you are just putting it, if you bank something then instead of that you should make some particular rules for it and if it is related to social media then perhaps you should make rules like only after some particular rules a student can use the platform, otherwise who knows what all things become available on the platform, every day some tech industry is established and people start using it, in such a situation it becomes a little difficult to keep an eye on everything, but if it is a big company then you can put such proposals before it and if you want then you can make a lot of changes in collaboration with the government.

My personal opinion is that if you want to see some change in the future, some things must be controlled, such as social media consumption being limited. Just as many games were banned some time ago, you should also impose some restrictions on social media platforms. For young children, the phones they create should be limited and grouped with all kinds of content, giving them more time to focus on their studies rather than being distracted by unnecessary things. Children are incredibly curious when they are young and want to learn about everything, but sometimes they can't, which causes them immense frustration. Nowadays, children start using social media platforms from childhood and are often very active on these platforms. This leads to them becoming increasingly disconnected from the real world, and as a result, their real-life relationships fall apart, while they enjoy themselves online.

Look, I just want to say that all users using social media platforms should know how to use their time wisely and know where they are using it and where they are misusing it. If they understand this, it can become a very good source of income for them, too. Perhaps there are people around you who are very famous on Instagram or YouTube, and among them, there are many good people who prefer to create content rather than consume content, or they chose this Rahu because of which they made a change in their lives. And you can bring about a similar change in your life too; you just need to take the first step. Thank you.

Great post! 🌿 Social media itself isn’t the real problem — it’s how we choose to use it that makes all the difference. For some, it’s a distraction, but for others, it’s a space for growth, learning, and creativity. The key is to use it mindfully and with purpose.

True, its not about social media. Moreover, the people that created these social apps did it to get a cashflow. However, hidden in these apps is the opportunity to make ones own income which some people probably don't see. They spend hours in the app without making anything in return

I fully agree with you and I think we can't blame social media fully because we are the controller of it. If there is something evil, it's for us and it's there is something good, it's also our contributions. We need to know how to use positively.

So often we blame things we shouldn't... I completely agree with the way you approach this topic, which many don't adequately explore.
Hugs!
