Hello everyone, how are you all doing on this beautiful day? It is the last day of the weekend, and I just wish it would go on and on because I sure as hell do not want it to come to an end.

But alas, that is not how life is, everything that has a beginning must also have an end. And we will work through the week unto the next weekend.

But as we get ready to return to work tomorrow that is Monday, there is something I want you to take with you. It is about this holiday that I believe everyone that works as an employee should appreciate because it concerns you in all ramifications. It is the Employee Legal Awareness Day.

It is the day set aside to reeducate everyone working under somebody about their legal rights as an employee, the kinds of things they were allowed to do, and the kind of treatments they should be given. This also includes privileges like vacations, promotions, increase in pay, and the like. It is designed to promote a smooth and cordial relationship between employer and employee for the sake of the company’s growth.

It is no news that there are a lot of employers out there who maltreat their workers, put them through inhuman conditions, and give them lousy pay. Sometimes, the employees do not refuse simply because they do not know.

As an employee, when you start off in a new company, you are usually given the employer’s handbook, it details the basics of your job, the things you can and cannot do, and also the rate at which you will grow in the company. It is that handbook that you will use to plan your way in the company, it will be your guide and you will consult it whenever you find yourself in a pickle.

Also, never forget to do your research. The legal laws for employees vary from country to country, so in whatever country you are in you can research the laws that govern employment. It is only when you acquire this knowledge that you can truly know when you are being maltreated or not. If not the employer could be taking advantage of you and you would have no clue. And if you do find a discrepancy in your boss’s actions towards you, respectfully request an improvement. Because it is your right.

And if you are an employer of labor, do well to know all the rights of those under you and fulfill them to the best of your ability. Because it is only when the workers are happy that the company can really move forward. You will realize that being a good boss, you won’t just be granting them a favor, you will also be doing yourself a favor because you will see your business move from strength to strength.

And so, on that note, I bid you go into this week armed with this vital piece of information. Make sure you are not being cheated or used by your boss. I am not telling you to be rude to them, or declare war or quit, I am just saying things can be settled when we all converse like civilized people.

Go forth into the week, be good and be productive.
