Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope the week is going good so far for you? Somehow we are cruising to the end of what is turning out to be an eventful week. This month of March just seems to have a lot of speed to it, it sure feels like yesterday when we said goodbye to the weekend and now another one is just around the corner.

Anyway, no matter the day or how fast it goes, there will always be holidays. And I will be there to inform us about them. The holiday that I will be observing today is one that I can confidently say is for everyone in this space. It is the International Writers Day.

Yay! This is a day set aside for writers all over the world. You don’t have to be an accomplished writer or a professional one. You do not even have to have it as a hobby for you to be considered a writer. As long as you are writing content that is being read by people other than you, then you are very much a writer my friend. And today is to celebrate you.

The idea for observing this day was proposed by the International Congress of PEN Club in the year 1986. And since then, it has been celebrated on the third of March annually.

The holiday is a perfect occasion to reach out and mingle with other writers. When you mingle with people, you get to learn one or two things you did not know previously. So, by getting to spend some quality time with writers, you can learn something new. These writers do not have to be professional or accomplished, no. All they need is to have the same drive and passion for writing as you do, they also need to be willing to learn, if not the relationship might not be in your favor.

And if there are no writer friends around you that you know of, you can always find them online. Thanks to social media, they are literally just a click away. And you can create a virtual relationship from there. One in which both parties will benefit to the fullest extent.

And there is another way, and this might be easier. You do not have to reach out or make conversation for those of you that find things like that difficult to do. You can simply go to the store and buy a book to read. Any book at all is acceptable, but it would be best if you pick a book that is in your preferred genre, that way you would be sure to enjoy it more.

This is a beautiful practice, one that should be nurtured and allowed to bloom for generations to come. Who knows, a time might come in the future when on a day like this, schools and offices would not operate. Everyone would sit at home and open up a book to read. Oh… what a beautiful image that makes.

So, in accordance with what today stands for, feel free to reach out to writers. Find out what you can learn from them and what they can learn from you, that way you both will be helping each other grow. And as you do, do not forget to write something beautiful today.

Thank you for reading, see you in the next post.
