I’ve always wondered what the world would be like if a thing like satisfaction was easy to come back. And I am not talking about contentment, I mean good old satisfaction. That feeling you get when you are enjoying a good thing and you know you want no more. Yeah, that is exactly what I am talking about.

Imagine if we were satisfied with our looks, with the little money we had, with the conditions we were born into. How will the world be? What would it look like and will it be a good or bad thing in the long run?

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

Well, you see, one of the reasons the world has been able to progress to this point is because there were people that refused to be satisfied. The first man who that discovered some animals could be used as a means of transportation was not satisfied with having to walk for so long just to cover a few miles. And in the same vein, other means of transportation were discovered over the course of the centuries.

The majority of man’s greatest achievements were borne out of hunger for more. They were people who were no longer satisfied with the status quo. They knew they could bring about change and they went for it. At the time it might not have made sense, but they knew that what was on their mind would change history. And they went for it, with nothing but their hunger to motivate them.

So now, you see how important this hunger is? Without it, there is no progress. Without hunger, there will be no growth. Satisfaction brings about comfort, and we know what they said about comfort; it’s the enemy of progress. After all, why would you want to stand out and be the best when you are happy being nondescript and average like everyone else? Why would you want to work harder and get that promotion when you prefer your low rank?

Now, note that I don’t want you to confuse satisfaction with contentment. In this context, they are two very different things. Contentment is being happy with the little you have, even if you know there is the possibility of more coming your way, even if more is not coming your way, you choose to be happy with what is available. But satisfaction is different. Most of the time, it’s a pit that never fills up. Most of the time, we get satisfied because we can’t take anymore.

It is ingrained in human nature to always ask for more, it’s how we are wired. And when we ask but we don’t get answers, nature will give us a way to answer for ourselves. How then will the world progress without those questions and we asking for more? After all, if the Bright Brothers had not considered flying, maybe they had been satisfied just driving around town in a smoky vehicle, then the world today will not have a plane. The same goes for just about every major invention or discovery known to man.

So, my dear friends, what am I trying to say in earnest? That hunger that is burning inside you, don’t ignore it! That hunger might lead you to the next big thing that would shake the world to its core. But then, beware that this hunger is the good kind, and you are using it for the betterment of the world. Because in as much as such hunger has brought world progress, it has also brought the world terrible wars and a lot of havoc.

Keep the fire burning, and continue going after what you want. Learn the value of contentment, and never get too comfortable. Know that there will always be something higher to aspire to, and the more you grow, the more hurdles you would need to overcome.

That is just life for you.

This is true. we need to always look where we can be better and try to learn new things each day. We can always be better and if we are content like you said, we are preventing ourselves from it

Indeed, as long as we have that hunger, we can also become better and have better.

Thank you for reading.

Damnn.. these words dive in deep. Makes me think It is difficult to be satisfied because the world will keep developing and new ideas will never stop implementing because the hunger will continue. But now is there anyway we are going to be satisfied yet??

Don't know if we will come to a point where we say okay, lets stop it here and hunger no more!! Good write up @bruno-kema

Indeed, it is the hunger that makes us push further and keep on looking to achieve more. We can never really be satisfied, because that will be the moment we stop fighting for more.

Thank you very much for reading.

Hunger is just like craving for something until you lay your hand on it. The more hungry we are in the pursuit of success, the higher we keep going and getting better at it.

The more hungry we are, the more we would be willing to risk to get satisfaction. That is where determination comes in.

Hmmm!! What can i say? Reading this feels like receiving fresh hope and power for running the race ahead.

The truth is, if man had gotten satisfied with what he has then the world would have been stuck in one place, all the modernization and technology we are enjoying today wouldn't have been birthed. Satisfaction sometimes can be a killer, notice whenever we feel we have enough, we often quite doing what we use to do or stop doing it the way we use to before.

Most people mistake satisfaction for contentment and it is very bad.the point we stop craving for something, we start loosing that thing. Hunger is that energy that says keep going there's more than these. Of course if the fire dies out, the only thing we would be left with is ash.

Thanks for reigniting my spirit this hour..

Indeed, there is always a reason to keep fighting. We always want more. When we cross one milestone, we set our sights on something else and go after it as well. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

That is how life has evolved to this point.

Thank you for reading.

It's true that satisfied with little things can give us happiness easily but at the same time I can't ignore the point which you stated here.

Trust me, I have never thought about satisfaction like you did and after reading I am feeling that you are also saying the right thing.
