As usual, the weather is acting up all over again. Just as it did during the harmattan and then during the dry season, it delayed, and when it finally came around, it did it in excess. I mentioned it here about how the harmattan was so severe that it made me sick, and then in February we saw one of the hottest months ever. Not just in Nigeria, but all over the world.
Now that we’re in the rainy season, the rain is still being sluggish about it. Coming only once in a few weeks and not really making much of a difference. The only time the weather is really cool is during the period the rain is falling, after that, we’re back to the oven.
However, this seems to be a global phenomenon. All over the world, there seem to be natural disasters happening. From thunderstorms, to flash floods and wildfires, the weather seems to be really mad at the Homo Sapiens this time, everything just seems to be getting out of hand. When trying to fight nature, where does one start?
Back in Nigeria here, we’re already in the rainy season as I mentioned, but we’re not getting the rain as we should. The air is still dry and hot, making for uncomfortable nights. This scares me because if the pattern continues, then we’d be looking at the threat of excess rain, and no matter how cool the weather will be, it could be worse.
More rain than we can handle could mean more flooding for us. We don’t have a good drainage system in this country, and if the rain decides to fall heavily for seven days straight without stopping even once, many of us will be affected by the impact.
As it is, despite the intense heat, many of us still go out to work, but once it rains, we won’t be able to do that and for those who choose to brave the weather and go to work anyway, they’ll be confronted with the increased cost of transportation. As you all know, depending on how heavy the rain is, the drivers of commercial vehicles can decide to hike their prices by even more than 100%. It’s crazy, right?
But sadly, these are part of the things we have to look forward to. At this point, I don’t think there’s anything we can do to stop it. We only have to prepare for it. Our only consolation would be the fact that we won’t be sweating unnecessarily for a long time to come.
It rained on Monday, but right now, there’s no evidence of that. The earth is scorched right back to how it was on Sunday, and that’s how it will remain until the rains deem it fit to bless us with its presence once again. Just like NEPA.
They’re also a scarce commodity we’ve been facing, and they’re the number one reason this weather is so unbearable for many of us. But unlike the weather, they’re only scarce, and when they come, they’re limited. And not excess.
Either way, I look forward to the coming weeks and months. One can easily predict that we have a wet future ahead of us. Hehe…

You are lucky to get rain dropping down on Monday, we haven't seen its sight here oo and the heat is unbearable for us. I just hope it starts raining now to wade off this extreme heat we are experiencing. Imagine not being able to rest my back on the wall in my room, so hot as if they are heating coal fire in there. Lol
God will help us.

The weather is getting worse through time. In the current time people thinking that it's extreme but in the future the situation with be very bad. Sometimes I feel or it thinking about the future. I think it's can't be reversed and the sufferings will be increased as we are helpless in this case.
Yesso... we're helpless because what will happen will happen and nothing we do now will change anything. We have to work towards the future, so in the next couple of years, things could be different.

The last time we saw rain was about two weeks ago, your side must be favoured of the Lord 🤣 we just hope that when the rain starts falling it won't be excess like you said, else it's going to cause a very serious problem which we don't pray for.

I think that to a large extent you place is better than mine. Even as I am writing now I am seriously sweating. I can even go out because of the heat. To me, I prefer cold to heat. For this year is seems as if there is inflation in the heat itself. Hahaha 😂.
