I can't say I know the whole Bible but when it comes to what God wants from us, I always try to find out about them, so I think you should do the same dad so you won't end up getting it all wrong. And you know, one of the main duties of a Christian is preaching the gospel and you can only preach when you study to show yourself approved rightly dividing the word of God.
It's not what we think is right but what the Bible tells us. If we keep serving him the way we think it's right, we will keep having issues knowing what the truth is. The Bible is one and it will never change and that's why we should always try to follow what Christ has said, what his apostles did and learn from the children of old.
