Fame is one thing I have never desired, because I understand the burden that comes with it. It's even worse when you don't have the money to maintain that status... Being famous without wealth can lead to depression, because you will constantly try to fit into the lifestyle people expect of you. Some even end up living fake lives just to satisfy others' impressions of them.

Many people believe that once you are famous, you instantly become rich. Because of that, you can easily feel weighed down by the constant requests for financial help. You lose the freedom to move around freely, because there are always people waiting to ask for something. Even going to the market becomes a struggle. Prices change just because you are a celebrity, and once you don't meet their expectations, you are quickly labeled as stingy.
A few years ago, a friend of mine was working as a receptionist in a hotel. One day, a famous Nigerian actor checked in. When it was time for him to check out, my friend jokingly asked for a tip, but the man didn't give him anything. Later, my friend came to gist me about how stingy the actor was. In my mind, I was like - Do you know how many other people like you are asking him for money? If he keeps dipping his hand into his pocket for everyone who asks, he might end up being the one asking others for help someday.

If, for some reason, I woke up famous, it wouldn't be a good thing for me or my family, because we would instantly lose our freedom.. No more walking around freely without some crazy people trying to take advantage of us. Secondly, fame would force me to upgrade my lifestyle. If I were living in a ghetto or rural area before, I would have to move somewhere else closer to where other celebrities stay. Just to escape constant disturbance and to be around people who see me as normal.
And thirdly, I would have to deal with the risk of thieves targeting my home, hoping to cash out big. It is understandable why we don't see the most famous people living in ghettos or areas where celebrities ain't much. Leave the singer portable out of this.
Then come the fake friends, many people will approach you for what they think you have, not for who you truly are. And when they realize you are only famous and not rich, they will either disappear or start disrespecting you.
So for me, give me wealth and leave the fame for those who crave it
Even if the Fame comes with Wealth, I am not sure I would appreciate that, I want to be a freaking wealthy silent billionaire enjoying life with his famz.

I think many of us have a different definition to being famous. For me, being famous doesn't necessarily mean I dance to others tune or trying to live a lifestyle people expect of me. I love being quiet and even if I am famous today, I wouldn’t do it for people because the truth is, even fake people will want to surround you.
But do you know you are already famous to me, Burl? You are to me and I do admire you and others here. Does this mean you are famous to me because you are wealthy? No. 🫡

Their source of fame is obvious, and everyone knows it. Wizkid and Akon became famous through music, while Elon became famous through his inventions. And it was the same thing that made them famous that made them rich but it is not the same for some other celebrities, for example those that act movies especially in my country, only like 20percent of them are doing well and the others being casted in the movies are stil poor yet well known by people.
Exactly. That’s my point, Burl. The last sentence it is. What I actually believe is that not everyone will be rich or wealthy, or poor, yet, many of them would be known. Being famous isn't a bad thing; it is what people do to it that matters.

It is worse in my country, thieves are everywhere searching for their next victim, being famous makes it easier to find us and make one a target.
Thieves are common here too and want to catch the one who's rich and when he's famous too it's easy to rob

You're right. When fame comes in, your freedom is exposed and no longer a freedom. Even when you're not the public type with your affairs, people still wanna poke into your affairs and the part where famous people are tagged as stingy because they can't give everyone who ask them is really sickening. Even when they can't greet because of one thing or the other, it's counted as a pride. So I agree with you that it's complicated attimes being famous. So just be your freaking silent billionaire 😊

I disagree with this; we have people that are safe, elon musk is safe, Tinubu nigeria president is safe and many others...There is a level of wealth that can keep us safe.
What I mean is, these kinds of people are only safe with their guards. If Tinubu should step out alone in Nigeria, I doubt he would come back home the way he left.

First, the first paragraph got me laughing, being famous without wealth will definitely end in depression 😂.
Being famous is a heavy burden that most persons don't see, it steals away your freedom and people tend to judge you like you aren't human and want you to be perfect.
