if you were made the president of your country today,
what are the first three things you will do for your country?
In Nigeria, that is a very peculiar question.
I sat down and watched as this guy nearly had a nervous breakdown when he was magically made the president...
That was in a movie I saw... cant remember the name.
It's just a movie, the guy was probably just acting it all...
Actually, its true, it was all acting.
But I couldn't help but think about how true that would be for me.
Thinking about it...
The president receives daily reports from all 36 states of the federation.
He oversees the activities of the military and the judiciary...
Both of which have multiple tails...
He has executive decisions to make regarding the economy, financial ties with foreign nations...
He has to decide what project to sanction based on the national budget....
He services, loans and debts he inherited from his predecessor...
No wonder our president take regular trips to London...
At his age, his body is not strong enough to carry that kind of burden.
But if I somehow by a strong of chance or divine intervention( which is not likely though) get into Aso rock as the bnext president, here are the first 3 things I will do...
Being a president doesn't mean you have to take decisions alone... there are decision makers who are supposed to help his excellency make decisions.
Hitler had a band of generals whom he consulted for battle strategies, they were responsible for misleading him time and time again.
So, here is the first thing I would do
Select Advisors who have a track record for being cunning
You see, the guys who have been able to convince the public that they are honest, they are the ones who usually put the blade right through the heart...
If i have Advisors who are known to be cunning, I am sure never to expect certainty from them. They are easier to handle.
The next thing I would do would be to
spend a considerable amount of time studying the failures of the past tenure... what they did and what they failed to do and why they could not do it.
coming up with my 7 point agenda or 3 point memorandum to change thnigs would be completely useless if i dont know why the president before me failed to accomplish is 10 point agenda...
Was he greedy or was he in a bottle neck?
It's important to me to find out.
Finally,
I will draw up a plan to make a memorable impact, positive impact before leaving the office, starting with EDUCATION
An illiterate community is a regressive community.
When the soviet Union sent a satellite to space, their local communications and intelligence services improved significantly.
The Americans wanted to do the same...
They met with catastrophic failure.
The rocket exploded before it could reach the stratosphere.
The Americans, determined to rival the soviets, introduced a way to get most of their citizens educated with the introduction of student loans.
The result was that they not only sent a satellite to space in a few years...
America sent the first man to the moon.
I guess you see why Education is the place where every leader must start...

Education is the future, a pity our leaders do not see it that way. They used to think it was oil, but their eyes have opened.
