It's been three days since I lost someone incredibly close to me—a woman I considered my second mother. The pain is still very real, a constant reminder of a love that is now a memory.
Her battle began with breast cancer. Her husband, Daddy Jegede, arranged for an operation at Lagos State Teaching Hospital, where she had a mastectomy. We held onto hope, but unfortunately, the cancer had already spread.
As her children in Christ, we were encouraged to believe she would be fine. We held onto that faith until the moment we received the news that she had passed away, called to eternal rest.
What hurts the most is remembering her boundless kindness. She never saw where we came from; she only saw children she could love. She never failed in her role as both a mother and a friend. I cherish the gifts she gave me, but I treasure even more the loving advice that helped shape me and make me stronger.
The hurt is deep, but it is comforted by the knowledge that her legacy is not gone. It lives on in everyone she touched. Her spirit remains in the lessons she taught and the love she shared.
May her soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
