Happy Saturday, Hivers! Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start. Mine here in Lagos has been filled with the usual dose of sunshine and, of course, the unwavering affection of my little shadow
This fluffy cloud of white fur is Rico and he's pretty much the best alarm clock (though sometimes a little too enthusiastic!) and definitely the best cuddle buddy a person could ask for.
Waking up to his gentle nudges (or sometimes a full-on face lick if he's feeling particularly enthusiastic about breakfast!) is always a sweet way to start the day. There's just something about that unconditional love and pure joy that a dog brings into your life, isn't there? He doesn't care about deadlines or traffic; he's just happy to see you, tail wagging like a metronome gone wild.
This morning, after our usual walk around the neighborhood (which involves him trying to sniff every single interesting blade of grass!), we settled back home for some lazy Saturday cuddles. He has this adorable habit of burrowing his head into my lap while I'm trying to read or scroll through Hive, his little snores a comforting soundtrack to my morning. Honestly, sometimes it's hard to get anything done with this little guy around, but the sheer happiness he exudes makes it all worthwhile.
Speaking of mornings, I snapped a quick selfie earlier
It was one of those rare moments where the lighting was just right, and I wasn't looking too bleary-eyed! It's funny how some days you just feel a little more put-together than others, right? This Saturday has that kind of relaxed, good vibe to it so far.
Having enjoyed a leisure breakfast, listened to some music, caught up on messages, the plan for the rest of the day is pretty low-key, which is exactly what I needed after a busy week here in Lagos. Maybe a little catching up on some of my favorite blogs on Hive, perhaps even getting started on that crochet project that's been calling my name. And of course, plenty more playtime and cuddles with the furry boss of the house.
He's particularly fond of having his chin scratched
Just look at that little face! Pure bliss. It's the simple things, isn't it? A warm sunbeam, a gentle touch, the happy panting of a contented dog. These are the moments that really make a day feel special.
Living in Lagos has its own unique rhythm, and while the weekdays can be a whirlwind, Saturdays often feel like a collective sigh of relief. The air seems a little less frantic, and there's a sense of everyone taking a moment to breathe and enjoy the slower pace. For me, that often involves spending quality time at home, recharging my batteries, and soaking up the unconditional love from this little guy.
He’s more than just a pet; he’s family. He’s the one who greets me with unbridled enthusiasm no matter what kind of day I’ve had. He’s the silent listener, the furry confidant, and the constant source of laughter and joy in my life. And on a lazy Saturday like this, with him nestled by my side, I’m reminded of just how lucky I am for his companionship.
So, from a sunny Saturday in Lagos, sending you all warm wishes for a wonderful weekend filled with your own moments of simple joy and maybe even a furry friend or two! What are you all up to today? I'd love to hear in the comments
