Learning Hive and What To Write: YOU

in Hive Learners3 years ago (edited)

I recently got a comment on one of my posts which seemed to be nonsense of "good post." I replied and asked what is good about my post to see if the person really read and understood my post. If he or she did, he or she will expound the comment. Nothing.

The following day, I noticed that the person upvoted his / her comment with $0.01 value. It was annoying. I wanted to downvote the comment. I have way more HP than that person so my downvote will leave the value negative. But then I remember the saying,"Be kind to animals."

I don't mean the creature who commented on my post is an animal. I mean, if we can be kind to animals, how much more with human beings, right? So I did not downvote. I checked the person's profile and cannot find comprehensive post. The longest I saw was one paragraph. There was even just "hello" post. What's more? The person upvoted all his/ her posts.

This person reminded me of Steemit days. Maybe he or she is struggling on ideas or topics to write about that is why he or she has no comprehensive post or comment. On a side note for those who started fresh on Hive and may not know about Steemit, it is the platform where Hive was cloned. Yes, Hive is a clone and that can be one whole separate post so I will spare the story for now.

When I first joined Steemit, I was excited about the opportunity to earn while socializing. However, I did not know what to write. I was never a good writer even in school. I was able to engage better with comments on others' posts because the idea is already there and I just need to relate to it.

There were posts about tips on topics to write about but for some reasons I cannot relate into those topics. There was also the initiative of @surpassinggoogle about @ulog which is blogging anything about U, anything that happened to U or anything that U experienced in a day.

It's all about You!

With Ulog in mind, one should not run out of topics to write about. Still, I was not able to immerse myself into such idea so I ended up focusing on steemhunt and tasteem. The first one is hunting emerging technology products to feature on your post. The second one is writing a review of a restaurant, eatery or even street food when you ate outside. These two had pre-defined topic so I found them easy to write about. Then I hibernated from blogging shortly after the Hive spin-off from Steemit.

After about two years of hibernation, I came back to Hive with overflowing ideas to write about. It is not because I accumulated the ideas from the past two years. It is just that I learned to be better conscious and more inquisitive of the things happening around me.

You need not wait to travel or for festival to happen before you will have something to write. You can basically write about a thing or two that happened within your day. For example as a student, you can write about your preparation before foing to school, commute or travel to school, how a discussion in class went on, or write about your favorite subject or teacher. For a mother, you can write about the menu you prepared for the family, your experience at the grocery store, how you prepare your kids to school, how your house plants are doing and many more...

Ideas on what to write

Following are samples of ideas that just came from events of my ordinary days.

And this very post alone which is a reaction to a comment on my other post. As you can see, I did not have especial event or have travelled far to be able to write.

Basically, it is writing a "reaction paper", what your thoughts are or how do you feel about an event in your day. Do not complicate life when it can be simple. And with that, I hope to see better posts and comments especially from newbies.

Sort:

Those good post comments and upvoting their own post are part of the comments abuse farm that has been ongoing since steemit. It is okay to downvote such Mac,I seldom use the DV button unless I see abuse such as plagiarism in the community.

There was also the initiative of @surpassinggoogle about @ulog which is blogging anything about U, anything that happened to U or anything that U experienced in a day.

I remember this there's also TIL hash before wherein you share some of the stuff that you learned this day.

Oh, here is a fellow former Steemian! 😊

I never used downvoting so I was itching to do it with that comment on my post. But again, be kind to animals. 😄 Kidding aside, it is still ignorable so I let it pass.

TIL? How come I didn't know of that?

Indeed the secret a blogger needs to have is that you won't run out of topics, better wrote things that you know, better be with your comfort but also try to explore more. I just started my blogging journey last May 2021, and I considered still myself a newbie, I saw the comment and I am the next one who comments on that post wahaha.

Ah, I did not realize that as a secret but yes, a blogger have to have a topic all the time. Otherwise, that's a make-believe blogger, not even a trying hard one.

Hehehe... so you saw that comment. Sarap i-downvote. 😄

Thanks to @mahirabdullah for the re-blog!

Well, I checked the person's few posts and there is no plagiarism so far. I think the person just don't have ideas to write about.

But how do I report to HW form, just in case..?

That was pretty annoying when someone commented like good post. I mean is that they don't even bother to read your blog and just leave a spammy comment. Anyway, I do not know well the history of SteemIt. Have a good day! !PIZZA

I am not sure but maybe that person knows that I upvote comments to my post so he or she tried if "good post" will work. 😄

Steemit is basically where Hive came from. It was a great platform until the American owner sold it to a Korean. That was when concerns about managing started to come out. People who did not want to stay on Steemit cloned all Steemit content into a new platform they called Hive. And so here we are... 😊

Steemit is still alive though I am sure a lot of things have change. Some of the people I knew in there have chosen to stay instead of jumping ship.

That's the short story...

Thanks for the pizza! How do I use this? Does this have token value or jusr for the fun of it?
