In our society today, most people's daily routine involves some kind of social media interaction. Social media has proven to be a medium for easy communication where people share ideas and information. Certainly, I can say that this generation is fortunate enough to witness this type of technology development. In as much as social media chatting has the good side, it also has the bad side and for this contest, I will be sharing with you all, one good thing online chatting has done for me as well as one bad aspect of it.
THE GOOD
Making New Friends: Social media chatting has brought so many wonderful souls across my path. Friends that have impacted my life positively. Funny enough, most of these people I chat with, I haven't beheld my eyes on them but we got so close through chatting, sharing ideas, info, and values that are beneficial to us. Take for instance here in the hive learners community, we do have an hour of hangout on discord every Saturday through chatting. We come together and gradually get to know ourselves more. Most of us including me also extend the chat via DM with some people that we feel we can work with. This tactic has helped me a lot in getting the useful information I needed to strive here. I also chat a lot on the Neoxiancity server, making new friends and learning from others.
Sometime last year, I sold one of my real estate properties I market online to one of my Facebook friends through chatting. The chat also extends to Whatsapp as long as God knows when..lolz. permit me to say that, chatting is more affordable than making calls, you will also get to express yourself with things that ordinarily you might feel shy to voice out, especially for introverts. Social media chatting has many good sides to me, however, the bad and negative aspects cannot be overlooked 👌
THE BAD
Addiction: Despite the many benefits of online chatting, it has some unfavorable bad sides. I must admit that most times, I am addicted to chatting online to the point of postponing most of my offline activities 🤦🤦. However, this doesn't happen daily but I am yet to overcome being addicted to chatting. I have skipped my meals sometimes due to the way I am always glued to my phone. Is either I am blogging or I am chatting. I really need to set a timetable if not, my offline activities will be affected...
From my observations so far, students have suffered low grades and performances due to addictive chatting, perhaps many people are suffering from this addiction aspect of social media chatting.
In conclusion, social media chatting can be very helpful if over usage is avoided! You and I should learn not to be controlled by technology but instead, put things in balance.

Tbh Social media is one of the blessing indeed for this generation but coming to think about it it is being mis used in several ways. Not only kids but people of all age are literally wasting their time in here and making no proper use of their time whatsoever. I really wish before it is too late they get to realize what they are missing.
But either way like u said there re indeed some benefits. But at the end of the day let's try to not get trapped in these social medias which are not worth spending our time into ;)

Yeah I perfectly agree with you. Social media chats has its advantages and disadvantages. Though when well managed, I think that the advantages are more than the disadvantages. Like the business point you highlighted, many people have done alot of successful business transactions through chatting and many more examples too numerous to mention
