Sometimes, I scroll through the online space and keep wondering if the monetization of content creation we have today is becoming a blessing or a curse.
If you open Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or even Facebook most times, you could see the most unbelievable things, all in the name of content monetization. Our digital street has been saturated with unpleasant content affecting the mind negatively, and I wonder why people don't care anymore.

Just one scroll, and you could see a video of a man jumping from a tall building; you could also see fake breakups and a lady using the restroom quietly on her first visit to her boyfriend's house so the guy doesn't get to hear the sound of her poo in the WC, lol. People can even grind pepper, mix it with garri, and video themselves eating it online, and the funny aspect is that they will make it go viral, all for money!
I saw a video of a young boy of at most 10 years old yesterday, singing a spirit-filled worship song. If you watch the boy, you could notice that he is gifted, and I was so emotional listening to him worshiping God in that manner. I was blessed by his ministration, yet he had just a few likes and comments. The video didn't go viral at all, but when it's all about naked bodies and irrelevant content that we can't get value from, you will see traffic on those kinds of videos and so much earning from them as well, motivating the creators to keep up with such content because that's what sells fast. Something devoid of creativity but encourages laziness, yet they are being monetized.
The truth is that content monetization has done both good and harm. Looking at the good side of it, a lot of creators have been lifted from poverty. I know a YouTube content creator that bought his first car from the monetization, and other nice achievements ; there are stay-at-home mothers like me who have been earning through cooking different delicacies and showing it online, and a lot of other people teaching online and earning through what they create and teach people in the online space.

To be honest, this aspect is a lot of blessings. Gone are the days when it's only the big names that earn; now creative minds unleash their creativity online and get paid. Even a child of less than 10 years old can still get monetized through his or her creativity.
Having said that, we humans have a way of turning things upside down. It's very easy for us to abuse opportunity anyhow, and that's where problems begin, turning blessings into madness. To some people, if they don't go extreme, they won't be noticed; that's their belief, and that's why we see a lot of outrageous things in the online space today.
There is so much desperation today; people don't mind faking the death of their parents or even their spouse. Just think of anything silly; they are in, just to get it trending, go viral, and earn—mission accomplished.
Has monetization made people become lazy? I will say yes and no because the case is different from one person to another. For some people, they just want to go viral, thereby creating lazy and irrelevant content everywhere. They will choose to dance naked or do sexual stuff on TikTok and earn massively without stress. For others, they really work for their earnings, consistently creating valuable content for many years and reaping the fruits of their labor.
Some content is there to inspire us, entertain, teach, and share life experiences; these ones deserve rewards. But you see those people who, for example, video beggars begging in the streets of Lekki and publish it online for monetization—they deserve NO reward because what are they teaching? Definitely nothing and the likes; there is much lazy content out there that deserves ZERO reward. In fact, some of that content is not supposed to leave draft, not to talk of publishing it, but it is what it is today.

Wrapping up, the generation we find ourselves in today is the type that most people want to be seen not necessarily for their great work but for money. However, as long as we keep supporting nonsense in the online space, they will keep creating the same nonsense for us to consume. Not all content deserves a reward, only valuable ones in my own viewpoint. At the end of the day, we reflect whatever we dish out for others to see in the name of monetization.

You're right, content monetization has done both good and bad and it has helped people a lot but people misuse it sometimes
The misuse is the issue there
Serious issue.

Some human beings love to take things upside down, doing weird and outrageous stuff all in the name of making money. I have talked tire over these things and it irritates me to see those nonsense online for the money. People can do crazy things and I do avoid such content whenever I scroll through.
Serious avoidance oo..I hate to see my eyes on certain contents cos they are quite irritating , yet they still earn
I agree with you, everyget to everyone ase their creative mind nowadays gone are those days that we post and not earn atall
It is what it is
I also saw a video that blessed my heart no virality but naked videos will be going viral for visibility. Some content needs to be scrutinized. Thank you for sharing
Don't mind our world...they prefer crazy things
Hmmm! Abuse of all the opportunity my dear.
Just like you said people don't even care they even enjoy those ones that are rubbish and it gives the content creators power to go on.
Thanks for sharing
Dey don't care, sadly more people enjoy those nude they post out there
Content creation have created more opportunities for people, it's so disheartening to see people do unreasonable things for money.
Some content have to be scrutinized, to avoid negative influence.
Thank for sharing.
When it's about money, people can do the unimaginable
It's sad
Some people are just out to chase clout and end up comparing themselves to people who actually put out great connect which is worth being monetised.
Content creation is like an iceberg, you can't pay for all good content, but it doesn't mean that who are in the top are the best content creator, but the ones that had better opportunity and took the chances. Many good creators are in the larger part of the iceberg but will never be recognized as the ones in the top.
