in Hive Learners2 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to write in this community, which has brought it's time and effort to teach newbies like us on the important of hive security keys.

In this post I will be writing about the security keys on the hive Blockchain, it's importance, uses, and how to locate them based on what I have learnt so far.

We have four types of keys in hive blockchain, they all have it's unique functions, some are use for posting contect, signing into your account, post comments and authorize transaction on the hive blockchain.

how to locate hive security keys

I'm going to be using peakd settings in showing how to go through the process,

step 1

When you are in your profile navigate to the three dots close to settings at the top, and click on the dots.

step 2

When you click on the dots, it will take you to keys and permission, just as it's shown below, then click on the keys and permission.

step 3

That will take you to the place where you can see the keys functions, and also to the option that say reveal all keys, then click on that option.

step 4

That will take you to last option that will require you to imput your master key, after you must have imputed your master key then all your keys will be revealed.

functions of the hive security keys

1. Master key/ owner key
this is the most powerful keys, it is use to change other keys, and also use to recover your account.

2. active key
The active key is use for authorizing transactions like the transfer and exchange of tokens.

3. Posting key
This is the key we mostly use in the hive blockchain, it is use for publishing a post, make comment, reblog other peoples post, upvote, downvote, and also mute account.

4. Memo key
This is use to encrypt and decrypt private message sent through the hive blockchain.

measures of keeping the hive security keys safe

By not giving it out to anyone, the keys are private and should be used by you alone.

Avoid clicking on any link that will require you to imput your hive keys, if it's not for logging into your account or making transactions on your wallet in the hive blockchain.

By writing it out on paper, this might be stressful and time consuming but it will be worth it, for me that is the best way to keep your account safe because only you can have access to the paper that you wrote them down.

Thanks for stopping by to read my post, I hope you fine it helpful.
