Have you ever dreamed of To be a defender of justice? A superhero? A vigilante, to be more precise? Wow, that must be cool, but at the same time so dangerous, right? It's a hypothetical scenario, but what would we do? Our greatest example would be Batman, our fearless hero who delivers justice and, as many joke, his superpower is precisely being rich. Therefore, with money in hand and available time, he can learn and perfect any and all skills, thus showing that it's not necessary to shoot lasers from his eyes to fight crime.
If money were no object, I think I would try to solve the problems of my neighborhood or city in a more hidden way, in the shadows. I believe I wouldn't have the courage to become a Batman, a real-life vigilante, but I would try to do something behind the scenes, without drawing attention. A way to protect the weak, support them, and thus try to do justice. Of course, my justice wouldn't be about actually killing people. I think I'd invest in trying to catch criminals and put them in prison.
Although being a vigilante helps us reflect on the real power of the law. Because if we follow the rule of not killing and want to rid cities of organized crime, drug dealers, pedophiles, and the like, investing rivers of money in investigations and resources to catch and arrest them, and then the justice system fails and releases them, doesn't make much sense. I haven't seen the Peacemaker series, but I know that at some point this scenario is presented: Batman arrests them and the justice system releases them, so the criminals continue doing their evil deeds, killing family men and abusing innocent women.
UnsplashSo, should a vigilante be a true vacuum cleaner of crime? Do what everyone wants to do but doesn't have the courage to do, or because their ethical code doesn't allow it? It's really complicated. I think many people expect a savior who isn't afraid to kill bad people to appear, even though, even if we don't like it, everyone has the right to a trial and to serve their sentences legitimately, right? Even if the guy is a monster, he needs to be sentenced to serve his 400 years in prison.
Well, then we have a good point to discuss. I confess I don't know which path I would take if money were no object. Since I have a family, I wouldn't go to the battlefield, but money is power, and with that I could do something to try to mitigate crime, a vigilante in the shadows. To be quite honest, I think I might be the type to encourage the use of brute force in complicated cases. I would give each criminal a chance to surrender if they didn't cooperate or tried to fight back in some way; I don't see a problem with the people I sent after them fighting back as well.
If, by chance, in this scenario where having power and money were actually possible and I were single, without a wife and children, I think I would try to become a kind of Batman of the city, investing in weapons, protection, self-defense courses, that sort of thing. It's incredibly dangerous, but it's definitely exciting to be able to go out at night, jumping from building to building, searching for criminals and arresting them. Quite an adventure, isn't it?

É um cenário hipotético, mas o que a gente faria? Nosso maior exemplo seria o Batman, o nosso destemido herói que faz a sua justiça e, como muitos brincam, o seu superpoder é justamente ser rico. Sendo assim, com dinheiro em mãos e tempo disponível, ele pode aprender e aperfeiçoar todas e quaisquer habilidades e assim, mostrando que não é preciso soltar laser pelos olhos para combater o crime.
Se dinheiro não fosse problema, acho que eu iria tentar resolver os problemas do meu bairro ou cidade de um jeito mais oculto, nas sombras mesmo. Acredito que eu não teria coragem de me tornar um Batman, um vigilante da vida real, mas iria tentar fazer algo por baixo dos panos, sem chamar a atenção. Uma forma de proteger os mais fracos, apoiá-los e assim tentar ir fazendo a justiça. Claro que a minha justiça não seria aquela em que você mata realmente as pessoas, acho que investiria em tentar pegar criminosos e colocá-los na prisão.
Apesar de que ser um vigilante ser algo que nos ajuda a refletir sobre o real poder das leis. Porque se seguimos a regra de não matar e queremos limpar as cidades do crime organizado, traficantes, pedófilos e derivados, investir rios de dinheiro em investigação e recursos para pegá-los, prender e a justiça falha depois solta-los, não faz muito sentido. Eu não vi a série do pacificador, mas sei que em um dado momento esse cenário é jogado no ar: o Batman prende e a justiça solta, assim os bandidos continuam fazendo suas maldades, matando pais de família e abusando de mulheres inocentes.
UnsplashEntão, um vigilante deveria ser um verdadeiro aspirador de pó da criminalidade? Fazer o que todos querem fazer, mas não têm coragem ou porque seu código ético não permite? É realmente complicado. Acho que muitas pessoas esperam que um salvador que não tenha receio de matar pessoas ruins apareça, apesar de que mesmo que a gente não goste, todos têm direito a um julgamento e a cumprir as suas penas de forma legítima, não é? Mesmo que o cara seja um monstro, ele precisa ser condenado a pagar seus 400 anos de prisão.
Bem, então temos um bom ponto para discutir. Confesso que não sei qual segmento eu iria adotar se dinheiro não fosse problema. Como tenho família, não iria para o campo de batalha, mas dinheiro é poder e com isso eu poderia fazer algo para tentar amenizar a criminalidade, um vigilante das sombras. Sendo bem sincero, acho que eu poderia ser do tipo que incentivaria o uso de força bruta em casos complicados. Daria a chance para cada criminoso se render, caso eles não colaborassem ou tentassem revidar de alguma forma, não vejo problema nas pessoas que mandei atrás deles revidarem também.
Se por acaso nesse cenário em que ter poder e dinheiro fosse realmente possível e eu estivesse solteiro, sem esposa e filhos, acho que iria tentar me tornar um tipo de Batman da cidade, investir em armamentos, proteções, em cursos de autodefesa, essas coisas. É mega perigoso, mas com certeza é empolgante também você poder sair à noite, pulando de prédio em prédio, buscando por criminosos e prendendo-os. Uma aventura e tanto, não?

Also thought about batman. He really is that vigilante "model" or like go to figure when the theme is vigilante/hero. However I think he is not the smartest because joker always leaves the prison lol...
Haha, like that, he helps arrest people, and then the police and the justice system let them go, or the villain himself gets away, right? That fits in really well with that story, because why not just kill a guy like the Joker who has no solution? I think that's everyone's biggest question about vigilantes.
