Have you ever imagined if something in your life today were to change? It could be your education, your friends, your romantic relationship. If something were different from what you experience today, what would it be like? I love thinking about these things: time, space, the paths we take if we go back to the past. Who hasn't thought about that? Anyway, the central point of my analysis today would be my college degree, which in my case was a computer networking degree, but I covered everything: programming, networks, infrastructure, technology fundamentals—a veritable source of knowledge about computers and technology.
Wow, I keep thinking, I almost went down a very different path, because my first choice would have been physical education and so on. Even though I'm a bit overweight these days and more sedentary (I don't practice anything), back when I was choosing a college, I loved playing soccer and really wanted to follow that path. I think I could have been a soccer or volleyball teacher or something like that, worked at a gym, had a ripped, good-looking body, but I ended up not getting in, and as a second choice, I took my computer networking degree. Pretty surprising, huh?
I believe that if I had followed the physical education path, my life would have been completely different than it is today, especially considering that I probably wouldn't even know about Hive, because I don't think I would have become as obsessed with computers and the internet as I am today. Following a path where work is more focused on the body and not the mind, I think my routine would be different, with workouts, walks, and a healthier diet. Of course, it's all guesswork; we can't know what it would actually be like, but I imagine my being and my life would be, in this way, completely different from my current reality.
UnsplashAs a programmer for 14 years, I practically spend my life in front of a computer screen, whether at work or at home. A computer is always at my disposal, so I'm practically online all the time, and that's something I wouldn't do if my professional field were different. I'd venture to say that maybe even my wife wouldn't be the same, because I met her online. So maybe, if I hadn't spent so much time online, I wouldn't have met her, and with that, no dating, marriage, or children, at least that's how I think.
So, just the fact that I took a different course, went to a different college, would certainly make my whole life different, which would be horrible, in my opinion, because if there are two things I love today, it's my family and Hive, all the friends I've made here, the adventures I've experienced. So, if I went back in time and focused on another career path, maybe none of this would have happened, and well, I can't imagine a life without these things in it; I think I would feel a void of existence because of it.
Anyway, I always have the feeling that everything in my life is exactly what I needed for it. I can't imagine more or less, just where it should be. I'm thankful I failed the physical education exam and ended up with the computer networking course. Everything went as it should have!

Já imaginou se algo na vida hoje fosse mudado? Pode ser sua escolaridade, seus amigos, o seu relacionamento afetivo, se algo fosse diferente do que você vive hoje, como seria? Amo ficar pensando nestas coisas, o tempo, o espaço, os caminhos caso voltemos ao passado, quem nunca pensa nisso? De qualquer forma, o ponto central da minha análise hoje seria a minha faculdade, que no meu caso foi um curso superior de rede de computadores, mas vi de tudo, programação, redes, infraestrutura, fundamentos da tecnologia, uma verdadeira fonte de conhecimento em relação a computadores e tecnologia.
Caraca, fico pensando, eu quase fui para um caminho bem diferente, pois a minha primeira opção seria educação física e tipo. Mesmo sendo um pouco gordo hoje em dia e mais parado (não pratico nada), naquela época da escolha da faculdade eu amava jogar futebol e queria muito seguir por esse caminho. Acho que poderia ser um professor de futebol, vôlei ou algo assim, trabalhar em alguma academia, ter um corpo trincado e bonitão, mas acabou que não consegui passar e, como segunda opção, fiz o meu curso de redes de computadores. Bem surpreendente isso, não?
Acredito que se eu tivesse seguido o caminho da educação física, minha vida teria sido totalmente diferente do que é hoje, até pelo fato de que nem a Hive talvez iria conhecer, porque acho que não iria ficar tão vidrado em computador e internet como sou hoje. Seguindo um caminho onde o trabalho é mais voltado para o corpo e não a mente, acho que minha rotina seria outra, com treinos, caminhadas e alimentação mais saudável. Claro que é tudo achismo, não temos como saber como realmente seria, mas imagino que o meu ser e a minha vida seriam, dessa forma, totalmente diferentes da minha realidade atual.
UnsplashComo trabalho de programador há 14 anos, vivo praticamente de frente para a tela de um computador, seja no serviço ou lá em casa, um computador está sempre à minha disposição, então fico praticamente online o tempo todo e isso é algo que não iria fazer se o meu ramo profissional fosse outro. Arrisco dizer que talvez nem a minha esposa fosse a mesma, porque eu a conheci pela internet, então talvez, se eu não ficasse tanto tempo online, não a teria conhecido e, com isso, nada de namoro, casamento ou meus filhos, pelo menos isso é como penso.
Então, só o fato de ter feito um curso diferente, ido para uma faculdade diferente, com certeza faria com que toda a minha vida fosse diferente o que para mim seria horrível no meu modo de pensar, porque se tem duas coisas que amo hoje é a minha família e a Hive, todos os amigos que fiz aqui, as aventuras que tenho vivido, sendo assim se eu voltasse no tempo, foca-se em outro ramo profissional, talvez nada disso teria acontecido e bem, não consigo pensar em uma vida sem essas coisas nela, acho que eu sentiria um vazio de existência por isso.
Enfim, tenho sempre a sensação de que tudo o que está na minha vida é exatamente o que precisava para ela, não imagino nem mais, nem menos, somente onde devia estar. Fico agradecido de não ter conseguido passar na prova para educação física e assim fiquei com o curso de redes de computadores. Tudo foi como deveria ser!
