I am thankful to my life, that it allows me to live in multiple era. An era thar belongs to be quite socially and an era thar lives digitally. It allows me to get experience and exposure to different life situation. I was brought up in a life where we used to be active socially, at the same time I also see how people and kids of different age group are digitally active these days. Todays the life is very different than before. We are more dependent on technology and this is the reason todays time is often referred as digital age.

Today morning in between a little conversation with my 10 year old nephew, I asked him to bring Dictionary. But to my surprise, he does not have any, infact he was not aware about dictionary. He uses google to learn the meaning of different words and vocabs that came along their way. This was not the case in my times, we used to flip different pages of dictionary to understand the meaning of a particular word. This is where we are proud to be brought up in an era, we dependent on physical mode to get knowledge. Our Life before the digital age was slower, more local, and physically engaged. The era was more characterized by in person interactions, reliance on physical media likes of maps, dictionary etc. People spent more time outdoors, communicated face-to-face or via landline, shopped in stores, and relied on community for entertainment and knowledge, leading to a sense of shared culture and deeper local ties. Whereas the digital age is more reliant on instant messaging, social media, video calls, global connections.
I personally believe that too much of something is injurious to us. And this is where the over dependent on technology may affect us in worst way. The impact of the digital life is a double edged sword. It offers conveniences and opportunities previously unimagined but also poses risks to our physical, mental, and social health. I have known few of the kids in my family who are quite active on social media, but when it comes to face to face interaction they could not bear them for more than 5 minutes. While digital life offers connectivity, it often comes at the cost of face-to-face interaction, which is crucial for deep social bonding and emotional development. Excessive indoor time and social media use can contribute to feelings of isolation, anxiety, depression, and a decline in overall mental well-being. Excessive dependency on digital life can be harmful because it leads to significant negative impacts on physical, mental, and social well-being.
In my opinion, while digital technology offers many benefits, an excessive dependency can compromise overall quality of life by undermining core aspects of human functioning and well-being. This is quite slaring and needs to be taken care with adequate steps. Controlling dependency on digital life involves setting boundaries, cultivating offline interests, practicing mindfulness, and seeking support to foster a healthy, balanced relationship with technology. The goal is not total abstinence but to use technology intentionally to enhance life rather than letting it take over.
Life is much better outside and we should let the generation to know the beauty of being natural by giving them chance to appreciate the nature by taking them out from indoors. One could understand life by being into more practical exposure.
In good faith - Peace!!

Personally, I don't see a lot of issue with your analogy of a dictionary. You are still looking up the data, just in a different format. I see it the same way as reading a news story on your phone. Same information, just a different format. The problem is when the technology eliminates steps in the journey from point A to point B. In my opinion anyway!
Getting into physical mode allow us to be more focus and understanding of the words...I find it better than glueing back on screen. It is like reading a physical book and reading in screen
I can see the draw to that!
