A ONE-DAY PRESIDENT

in Hive Learners3 years ago (edited)

Well, maybe we can start here...

“PRESIDENT FOR A DAY”
We all have had the thought, at least at one time in our lives. If we were the President of our country we would do a lot of things. So, we would love to know, if you were made the president of your country today, what are the first three things you will do for your country?

I am repeating this again....

"...Be careful what you wish for. "
-@sekani

It seems my wish is kind of taking track of actualization. Well maybe, maybe not! The last post I made in this community - ONE WISH, JUST ONE WISH!! - is almost, if not exactly, what this post is about. And here, I will be expatiating on some things.

But, really, being a President is more than a great deal ...These may not seem like just 3 things I'll do on the assumption of Office but I will like to elucidate them in the form of topic sentences which includes:

1. (TACKLING) CORRUPTION

Corruption has really eaten deep in the economies of nations, not just my country alone. Almost every political or public office holder is just using the little time spent in their tenure to siphon public funds meant for projects, the masses, etc. into their bottomless-pit pockets. This is why first I am going to blow the whistle on corruption. However, in tackling corruption, the agencies e.g Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in my country involved in combating it are not always the only ones. The judiciary is always involved too. If possible, all the members of corruption-combating agencies are just retrenched and then employed again. Although not just like that, they will be made to undergo different courses re-educating and re-evaluating their worthiness of the job they are into. This is because laxity begins at home; implying that when corruption fighters are not found wanting in it then the evangelism can spread out with force and in essence.

2. EDUCATION

In my country, the education sector is worthy of declaring a state of emergency in. For about the last 3 years when I have been following the yearly budget, it has NOT REALLY HAVE A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE OR PARTICULAR CHANGE IN THE SECTOR. Presently, the lecturers in the public tertiary institutions are on a whooping 3 months strike. Why? They say their needs have not been met, some of which date back to about 12 years ago - can you imagine? They cannot be blamed because even the state of academic resources to be used in teaching and equipping the students are either not available, in limited supply, or in a worrisome state. This is why I am going to declare a state of emergency in the Education Sector. It needs to be revamped!!

3. SECURITY

Like I had said in my ONE WISH, JUST ONE WISH!! post. The affairs of my people will be strongly paramount in my dealings - of course, they elected me here. This is why I will step on the game in the security sector. This does not entirely dwell in the purchase of more firearms et al but first, the mental and work rehabilitation of security officials. This is because most of these people have lost their sense of duty, they do not even know their functions in detail and what the constitutional rights of duty entail. Basically, the last sentence means that most do not know how to deal with issues in different circumstances. Then, strengthening our internal and national territorial integrity can come in. Nevertheless, the case of corruption does not leave the security sector unwanting too.

I know it is all easier said than done, but I am down to give it all when the time comes!!!

Hey @temibot

Honorable plans here...

Although it is impossible to be president for 24hrs, well there may be exceptions...

But i couldnt help but look at the feasibility of enacting a structure that can tackle corruption in Nigeria in just 24hrs...

You would have to be a god to achieve such a feat.

But then, In my mind, its all fiction...

I vote you for president boss, all the best for you man... Just know you have my full support.

I'm. Happy you recognize that it's easier said than done but I believe in you man...

Don't worry we are voting for you lol, good points.

Security in this country is almost abysmal. We only have to hope on God and our level of alertness if we want to be safe. But we will always conquer.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
