RE: The Duality of Technology in Education: Advancements and Distractions

in Hive Learnerslast year (edited)

Technology is a great tool in education and it has helped a lot of us understand some subjects and concept better. But we won’t deny the fact that it’s also a great distraction.

All my classes have been online and I can say how ineffective that has been for a lot of us. Online class could be going on and we’d be on another app watching videos. But one good thing about technology is it has a counter effect for everything just like the apps you mentioned that helps to manage time, and effectively plan amongst other things.

The sooner we accept the learning environment will always coexist with the social environment the better for us. Discipline is also very important.

Oh, yes. My attention in all the classes I had virtually this semester is close to zero simply because of other things that pop up and make my attention to the lecture inadequate.

You cracked me up with "how we'd practically be on a different app whilst the lecture is ongoing." Nothing truer. 😂

Embracing it, as you have highlighted, is the only way to optimally utilise technology for our betterment.

Technology is not the enemy but just a tool. It's whatever you chose to do with that matters. We just have to have that discipline to stand on what's right and what's not.

Glad you have you around, teminike.
