Content Monetization: A Lifeline for the Unemployed and a Threat to Online Morality

in Hive Learners7 days ago

Content monetization is the new normal, one of the blessings of our generation that has had a lot of positive impact on lots of lives; a lot of people who don't have an actual job now have a means of earnings despite the fact that they can't secure a job. Seeing how content creation has been rewarding people all around the world, many have taken steps to join the content creation trend so they themselves can earn, and I think it's a good thing. However, when we critically look into some of this content being created just so they can earn, we've come to realize some are not appropriate, and this has made people concerned if all content should be paid or if some inappropriate ones should be neglected.

The truth is that we can't neglect the fact that content monetization is a blessing to a lot of people, especially citizens of third-world nations like ours who usually find it hard to secure a matter graduating from the university, even though those who are lucky to secure a good one are paid peanuts, and so now that we have content monetization, this has reduced the amount of unemployment amongst individuals since they now earn via content creation. In fact, seeing the enormous amount being paid to content creators, we've seen some people who are employed but paid less ditch their jobs and take on content creation as a full-time thing.

While content creation is amazing, the fact that people now upload different unruly, irrelevant content is kind of annoying and personal. I tend to get angry or stroll away when I see some of such content. Take for instance you'll see some people show their nakedness online all in their quest to get massive views so they'll earn lots of money from monetization. You'll also see some doing stupid pranks and meaningless content just so they'll get traffic on their page. Some will even go as far as spreading fake information or misinformation just to get engagement on their page. This, I believe, is not ideal, and if I were to be in charge of paying content creators, I'd definitely not pay such people because their content is not only bad, but it can also cause negative influence on your ones and lead to conflict.

Saying content creation has made people lazy isn't a right statement in my opinion, and the reason why I said so is because a lot of content creators invest lots of time, resources, and thinking into each of their pieces of content, and that's why you'll see people stay glued to their page because they always have something new and interesting to share. Although I know we can say those who do naked exposure content can be tagged lazy, I don't think such a statement should go for all content creators, because they do just as much as other workers; it's just that each job has its unique demands.

About the fact that many people don't want to do normal jobs and now prefer content creation due to monetization, I won't blame them, because to start with, there are enough jobs in my country, and it's the content creation that reduces the poverty and employment rate. Also, most available jobs underpay their workers, and since the major reason many of us are working is to make money, then it's best you work where you'll be well appreciated for the effort you're putting in, so that's about it on my opinion on content monetization.

Well said. A lot goes into content creation, some people put in so much effort while others just expose themselves. At the end of the day, if your content has value, you’d be able to make some money off your content.

It is the inward creativity that I look at because many just follow trends and forget about building their own brands.

Seriously, many of us won't be here if not for the opportunity to create contents in this form. thank you for sharing
