RE: Freedom Convoy 2022: Hundreds of trucks roll through BC to protest vaccine mandates in Ottawa!

in Canada4 years ago

My biggest question is: why are they planning to get to Ottawa on a Saturday? Will they be staying there indefinitely until their demands are met? And I don't see any mention of blocking border crossings or anything like that. Is it just me... or would a genuine uprising of angry truckers feel much more chaotic and dangerous? It just smells off-- a little too controlled.

I'm just thinking out loud. I want all of the things they claim to be fighting for, so I hope I'm way out in left field concocting absolute fairy tales. But god damn... none of the opposition proponents ever say or do anything to step outside the approved boundaries. I want to be wrong this time.

Sort:

Saturday? They will likely arrive late, convoys are notoriously hard to coordinate. And this might get really really big.
But the media is doing everything they can to downplay it.
My comments attempting to spread truth on their story (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/freedom-rally-bc-jan-23-1.6324942) were all deleted, and I've been banned. I didn't break any rules, I just spoke the truth about what I saw today.
I know some of the people involved, and it's completely grassroots. The gofundme set up to cover their fuel has been seized by Trudeau because he considers the convoy "terrorists". People were throwing bagged lunches and money into open truck windows in a few spots.

They say they're getting to Ottawa on the 29th... which is a Saturday. And I do believe there are genuine people involved, but I think they'll be upset when this turns out to be another virtue signal.

Nasty attitude.

I want what they want... but I've also tried to take part in past movements that were led nowhere purposely. I want these truckers to block border crossings and weigh stations... I want them to cause havoc and bring the government to its knees, not just make a political statement over the weekend.

Sorry if I sound bitter and skeptical... it's grown on me over the last two years.
