I think it's a good compromise. The copy paste stuff is bad and I changed around my own weekly giveaway after risingstar implemented some new guidelines. I think it has changed for the better to an extent. People need to do more than just change the winner and a picture or two.
I agree that most giveaway posts have become better lately and I think that the guidelines of risingstar contributed to it.
