The trees at Holy Ghost Citadel have messages for you

in Wednesday Walk6 months ago

Holy Ghost Citadel is now a popular tourist destination. The monastery first started taking shape in the early 1200s. There's a ton of historical significance tied to this monument. During the Spanish dominance, it began as a monastery. As times changed, and power changed, so did the face of this monument. It turned into part of the collective of forts after the time the French came in, during the 1600s.

It is obvious that the geography of the entire location is not what it used to be back in the day. Now, the architecture surrounding the Holy Ghost Citadel is keeping up with time, the roads are modern, and the functions of these grandiose locations, too.

I took a walk around the citadel to learn more about this monumental place when I stumbled upon part of what was once the original location that gave birth to this citadel.

If it weren't for the giant "HOLY GHOST STAGE," I would have missed it.

In comparison to what's around, this place can seem underwhelming... when the stage isn't there. I did some digging and found out that this is a hotspot for rock concerts. How cool is that? Part of the holy ghost citadel being used for cultural and social events. Wow. I caught a few decorations lingering from a past event.

The section is pretty camouflaged with giant trees on the corner. But the trees speak...I mean they had notes hanging on the branches. Many, many notes.

From what I could gander, these are notes probably hung by students who had come on tour. Considering the whacky handwriting, it is either a right-handed person who wrote this note with his left hand or a kid somewhere in primary or elementary school...or visitors of a recent concert.

At first, I wasn't going to pay any attention to what was written considering it being a foreign language to me. But then I noticed it was written in Polish! Aha! It's time to use all of my 3 working brain cells to figure out. With the knowledge of Ukrainian, Russian, and the little reading I had learned when I was in Poland, I "decoded" this message:

Przyroda to piekno ktore nas otacza!!
Nature is the beauty that surrounds us!!

Isn't that beautiful? Just like the flowers drawn at the bottom of the note.

The notes were all wrapped in plastoc baggies with a pen inside. I wonder if that means others can write new messages on the paper...

I walked into the tiny square to see if there indeed was a stage. There wasn't any. However, there were plenty of cool sculptures. Remember I said earlier that this area is now used for cultural and social events? The sculptures must be part of an art/culture exhibition. I tried to walk around and look for reference, but could not find any. Looks like the audience get to decide what they make of these brightly colored sculptures.

As I left, I got a hit of nostalgia. Brightly colored rubber tired buried into the ground. I had the sudden urge to become a kid and jump on these tires like we used to. These tires are a very rare sight to me nowadays. I hardly see them being used like this anymore. But I'm pretty sure they are here just for aesthetic purposes. So, no jumping, right? We'll never know 😉

What an interesting place! Those are indeed some unusual brightly colored sculptures!

They are indeed pretty. Very curious to know what they stand for. Guess it's gonna be one more secret I'll never know of.

Yay! 🤗

That is a cool place and can't stop thinking of what could it be like, when there's a festival going on there. I like the idea of leaving random (or not so random) artworks here andthere. The notes are cute too. Imagine each visitor writing a note in their own language. What you would have written on that note and in what language? Your 3 brain cells, huh? 🤥

that is such an interesting place and those notes on the tree and kind of cool especially when you told us what one of them said

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
