This is a short morning walk through a changed world that really looks like something seen only in the movies till now.

It looks like that ... but it feels completely different. People are nice, well-mannered, no signs of panic nor weird, twisted ideas or behaviors you usually see in those movie dramatizations, the town its doing its best to retain the good spirit in a dramatically new circumstances. The movements are restricted, the public transport temporarily abolished, there is no possibility to go to the city or neighboring villages without appropriate permits.
And there are masks and gloves :) and that's a saving grace for the photographic aspect of this post. Without those items, this will look just like an ordinary early morning scene in front of the supermarket out of tourist season.
And this was my first big concern when I decided to take a walk to buy a few things for me and some neighbors, and take a few shots for the Wednesday walk. How to convey the desolate atmosphere in a place that is rarely crowded in this part of the year. Look these boats in the port ad example, this looks like an ordinary shot that could have been taken any day in the last 20 years.
This building also looks pretty ordinary, there is even a person on bicycle passing by in the left corner of the picture, to add a bit of life and action to the scene. But ... if you know this place, you'll be surprised to see no cars and many bicycles parked around. This is a café bar and restaurant in the port, very near to those boats on the previous photograph, where the fisherman and other locals, mostly older people, come together to talk, drink and play Briscola and Tressette, the most popular and highly regarded card games in this area. There were even tournaments in those games held in this place called Mizerija (which means misery, of course) where you could win home made prosciutto ham, sausages and salted sardines.
Here is another calming look at some larger boats on the main pier for fishing and excursion vessels.
A bit further, on the way to the supermarket, there is a recreation area with some Outdoor Basketball fields ...
... and here you can see another clue to the epidemic situation ...
... the barricade tape, swinging like a colorful snake on the cold, dry northern wind that relentlessly blows these days.
There is also a written reminder to the new rules of social interactions.
Another look at another area ... about 100 meters from there ...and then ...
... back to the supermarket ...
... and the pretty deserted parking lot ...
... people will enter one by one and take a ticket with number from a guard at the entrance, disinfect the hands and on exit give back the number. And now ...
... with the closing shot inside the supermarket, around the fruits & vegetables stand, is time to end this little walk inside the quarantine perimeter. Have a good day ... or night ... and a lot of good luck ... wherever on the planet you are.
