Wednesday Walk: A Shining Christmas Walk

Hello friends!

We couldn't stop walking, and these days walks through the city are special, a happy, bright and magical atmosphere surrounds us, enchants us and makes us feel almost like children, enjoying all the Christmas decorations and lights.

Another #WednesdayWalk in the community hosted by @tattoodjay. So I went out full of curiosity to walk around that happy environment in the city, in my city, which is more beautiful now, or that's how I see it... and walking around we discover Christmas in Valencia, Spain.

We start in downtown, in the central square, the nerve center of the city, it is in the City Hall square (Plaza del Ayuntamiento) where we see as soon as we arrive one of the large Christmas trees that we are seeing, it has not yet gotten dark so we take the opportunity to appreciate the details of its decorations.

There are already quite a few people concentrated there on that central esplanade because it is where they place the skating rink, and there are long lines even at that time. And there are also many people gathered in front of the main Nativity scene, not very extensive but beautiful, and we were able to stand in front of it to take a photo.

You can already breathe that atmosphere, different and beautiful, where people go out to have a good time. Especially children who have fun with almost anything, with a classic merry-go-round or the walking giant dolls with whom they want to take photos like with a man who was blowing big soap bubbles. Playing like that, they laughed while the bubbles exploded, flying everywhere and by chance I also exploded one jaja

Little by little it is getting dark, the afternoons are short but we were waiting for that moment when the lights turn on. Everything is becoming even more magical.

After walking around the entire square, a large area, we go further, walking along San Vicente Street now with more people, until we reach a tourist square, the Queen's Square (Plaza de la Reina). There two monuments, two towers compete for attention, first the Tower of Saint Catherine (Torre de Santa Catalina), and from afar we can already see the other.

But first we realize that in the middle they have put a craft market under more strings of lights that give it a nice touch, especially when passing by and looking more closely at the Tower of the little Michael (Torre del Miguelete or Micalet, in Valencian), with those lights looks special.

It is also more special because in front, between the market and the Valencia Cathedral itself, they have placed another life-size Christmas Nativity scene. With more space and more details, but there are more and more people moving around attracted by all that festive and bright atmosphere.

Through the narrow side street of the Cathedral, even more people arrive, and we see the other third square that we must visit, the Virgin's Square (Plaza de la Virgen), with the Basilica and an imposing architecture on its right, but this time we look without doubt in the center, in that other large Christmas tree, this one already well illuminated that captures everyone's attention. And certainly the atmosphere seems magical, the surrounding streets, the buildings, everything shines!

But we continue the walk along the wide pedestrian street that leads to the riverbed, and we entertain ourselves with the shop windows, because they are beautiful now. Like a doll store (it says that: “My dolls store” / "Mi tienda de muñecas") and there is a little girl who looks eagerly through the glass, and another store with beautiful furniture and decoration. Everything is more special now.

In any corner, something illuminated more lights, and we continue as if in a dream, a Christmas dream as we continue walking, already back after that wonderful shining walk.

Everyone has been decorating for this event for more than a month now and we can see that the whole city is looking very beautiful and lights are being installed everywhere.
