#Wednesday Walk - Enjoying Some Activity at Brighton Beach.

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

Last week I shared some photos of a unique sandstone rock formation that I discovered at Brighton Beach.

Today I would like to share some photos of the beach and some activities that took place while we were there.

As you arrive at the beach, one of the first things you notice is the nice tidal pool on the beach.

A nice wave coming in towards the tidal pool...

...and eventually breaking into the tidal pool...

The next scene just created a nice holiday feeling for me and I thought I should capture the moment in a photo...

DSC_2649.jpg

To my right, there was a nice fun park, but it's clearly not in use at the moment...I don't know if maybe they plan to do some maintenance perhaps...

DSC_2650.jpg

On the opposite side of the road, at the top of the hill, some holiday accommodation is visible.

DSC_2652.jpg

Zooming in on the holiday accommodation...with a nice walkway going up the hill to connect the holiday accommodation with the beach below.

DSC_2653.jpg

I walked up to take a closer look at the walkway, leading up to the holiday accommodation.

Across the road from the walkway to the beach, you can enter the beach area, with the fun park (seen in one of the previous photos) to the left, and a nice area to the right where you can just relax on some nice benches. Otherwise, you can go straight down to the beach if you want.

DSC_2657.jpg

In the next photo, you can see the area with the benches if you just want to sit and relax while looking out over the ocean.

Just below the buildings at the lower end of the beach (visible in the distance in the photo above), I saw some colorful activity on the beach with some colorful spots in the sea as well...as you can see in the two photos below...

DSC_2665-2.jpg

I took a walk down the beach to see what was going on and found that it was a body-board competition that was taking place with spectators and some colorful gazebos from the sponsors on the beach.

DSC_2668.jpg

Watching the body-boarders, I started shooting...lol.

I didn't really have the right lens for the distance, but I took some photos anyway...

I got these two shots of this guy...

DSC_2674.jpg

I then saw this guy catching a wave, coming out all the way to the beach...

DSC_2678.jpg

The quality of these photos isn't all that good, but with some editing and cropping, I managed to bring him in close enough to enjoy some of the fun...

DSC_2695.jpg

After some exciting twists and turns, he came out all the way, right onto the beach, where he grabbed his board and sprinted back into the water to catch the next wave while the crowd was cheering him on...

With that, I decided to take a walk back to the main beach, where my wife was waiting for me. She found a spot in the shade on some "pavilion-like" seats... You can actually see her in the next photo (about halfway up the little "pavilion")...the individual edged off against the blue wall in the distance...

DSC_2715-2.jpg

...if you couldn't see her in the previous photo...lol.

We spent some more time just relaxing and watching the activity around us before we returned back home.

And that's it for today, folks. Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!

Beaches mainly clean now, rivers still a problem. Wonderful to see everyone out enjoying the sunny winter days in perfect weather.

Best to enjoy this time of year on the beach before winds arrive along with change of season once again.

Have a great day and thanks for token.

True words...very true!

Have a great day and thanks for token.

You're welcome! And thanks to you too!

Awesome shots of the Beach such a beautiful area, I love that tidal pool and the shots of the waves crashing up over it

those properties up on the hill must have nice views and easy access to the beach while being high enough to be protected from storms coming in from sea

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

The views from the properties up the hill are absolutely spectacular!

And yes, I agree with you 100%! We have a dream of living right by the ocean...but we would prefer to be high up such as these properties for that exact reason! We love the ocean, but we have tremendous respect for it as well. Easy access...yet remain safe.

Thank you for your feedback and support! I do appreciate it!

I am the same when we moved here I had no interest in a beach front property I have seen the damage some have taken in hurricanes a couple even washed away

So we looked away from the coast knowing it was a short drive to beaches

It seems we share the same line of thinking there...👍

Looks like a good holiday and you did great with the body board shots.

Thank you for your positive feedback, @sjarvie5! Much appreciated and thank you for your support!

Have a great day!

Beautiful visit at the beach @jacoalberts 😁😎 the tidal pool is great. I saw them too on Gran Canaria.
The hill with holiday accommodations are great, what a view they have.
Great waves for surfing of any kind. Thanks for sharing your walk with us.
Have a wonderful Wednesday further 👋🏻☀️

Thank you for stopping, @littlebee4!

Yes, the view from the top of the hill is absolutely spectacular!

I'm glad you enjoyed my photos👍! You say you have seen tidal pools at Gran Canaria...I am curious... where is Gran Canaria?

Enjoy the rest of your week!

You are so welcome @jacoalberts 😁👋🏻 Anytime!

Gran Canaria is a Spanish Island of the coast of Africa, it belongs to the Canary Islands.
Have a look at Google.

Thank you so much, you too enjoy 👋🏻☀️💃🏻😁

Thank you, @littlebee4!

You sound just like my daughters... "ask Mr. Google", they always tell me...lol! I'm getting better at it, though...but the "old school" still sometimes comes to the surface...lol😄!

You are welcome @jacoalberts I just went through my photos for an example…

This is Gran Canaria and some tidal pools. They are used here as pools to swim and cool down.
The place was Agaete photo taken October 2017

Yes, getting used to the everything you can find on the internet thing… hehehe 🤭
I understand.

Wow! That's beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with me, @littlebee4! I appreciate it👍!

I get the impression that you do a lot of traveling...?

It was a lovely trip there. After tourist season. Only locals around.
You are welcome @jacoalberts happy to share 😁👋🏻

Yep… I get around 😎 but also moved around a lot. Close to 50 moves. Living in my 5th country of residence now and soon number 6 is coming up.
So plenty to share 😉🤓😎

Wow you said the magic word -- beach! It's cool to have such a lovely place near you. Most beaches are like three-four hours from the city. The trip has to be well planned too. Always looking forward to your walking adventures..
an advance happy weekend!

I love magic...I mean...beaches...LOL!!

Yes, we are blessed with many beautiful places (beaches included) in our area. I can remember when we lived in Johannesburg, we were 6 hours away from any beaches...so we only saw the ocean when going on holiday. So yes, I can associate with what you say when you have to do proper planning if you want to see the beach.

But now we can get up in the morning and just decide to go to the beach...and I am very grateful for having that privilege. And I enjoy taking you on my walking adventures and I look forward to reading your comments every week. Thank you so much for your support and for curating my content, @iamraincrystal, I appreciate it very much!
