RE: Rain Dance Spring Flowers

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago

Western Cape is where the Arum lily is normally seen on dams growing wild, they now come in a variety of colours, a flower I have known since young. Lily will grow anywhere in Southern Africa wetlands.

Millipedes have come out in great numbers with all the rains, happy with them not with the centipedes that appear every so often as well.

Sort:

Not in our corner of the Western Cape (Karoo) unless it's the farms right at the foot of the mountains. They have plenty of water and we sometimes pick the arums along the edge of the dams that feed off their waterfalls

Yup Lily tends to love water.

I remember dropping down from Oudtshoorn into George when the top was hot and dry in sunshine, drove through a blanket of cloud you could cut with a knife, down the pass into rain. Absolutely spectacular part of the country giving you the best of both!
