One of the first things to do before you start planning your travel luggage is to check the weather forecast. Knowing what temperatures we are going to encounter in the place is ideal to know what clothes to bring, even if it is approximate because it can always fail. In the case of the visit to Ushuaia, I was already checking the weather about three weeks before the date arrived and it was not very encouraging because they saw quite a few days of rain ahead. That's what made me buy waterproof clothes and shoes to have just in case because in my mind I was expecting big storms, but luckily this was not at all the case 😅.
Una de las primeras cosas que hay que hacer antes de empezar a planear el equipaje de viaje es revisar el pronóstico del clima. Saber con qué temperaturas nos vamos a encontrar en el lugar es ideal para saber qué ropa llevar, aunque sea de manera aproximada porque siempre puede fallar. En el caso de la visita a Ushuaia, yo ya estaba chequeando el clima como tres semanas antes de que llegara la fecha y no era muy alentador que digamos porque veían bastantes días de lluvia por delante. Eso fue lo que me hizo comprarme ropa y calzado impermeable para tener por si acaso ya que en mi mente esperaba grandes tormentas, pero por suerte esto no fue del todo así 😅.
Of course I knew that it would be very cold at the end of the world, so I also put all the thermal clothing I had in my backpack. In addition to the warm clothes, since my next trip would be to a hot destination, I also had to pack some summer clothes. I'm currently traveling with clothes for all climates, so I can choose to go to any point of the country without problems. It's not going to matter if it's snowy or lakeside, I'm prepared for anything 😅.
Por supuesto que sabía que en el fin del mundo haría mucho frío, así que también puse en mi mochila toda la ropa térmica que tenía. Además de la ropa abrigada, como mi siguiente viaje sería a un destino caluroso, también tuve que guardar algo de ropa de verano. Actualmente estoy de viaje con ropa para todos los climas, así que puedo elegir ir a cualquier punto del país sin problemas. No va a importar si es un lugar de nieve o de lagos, estoy preparada para todo 😅.
When I finally arrived in the city of Ushuaia, it was indeed very cold and drizzling. There I thought I confirmed what I had been seeing days before: the rain forecast was right. But once I arrived at my hostel and was able to talk to the people in charge of it, they told me that in this city the weather is very variable. The rains last very little, as well as the sunny afternoons, the clouds and even some snow. And the amazing thing is that all of these things can happen in a single day, so dressing smartly accordingly is key 😃.
Cuando finalmente llegué a la ciudad de Ushuaia, efectivamente hacía muho frío y estaba lloviznando. Ahí pensé que confirmaba lo que había estado viendo días atrás: el pronóstico de lluvias no se equivocaba. Pero una vez que llegué a mi hostel y pude conversar con los encargados de él, me comentaron que en esta ciudad el clima es muy variante. Las lluvias duran muy poco, así como también las tardes de sol, las nubes e incluso algo de nieve. Y lo más sorprendente es que todas esas cosas pueden ocurrir en un solo día, así que vestirse inteligentemente de acuerdo a esto es clave 😃.
It was in this city that I implemented more than ever that of dressing "like an onion". This form of outfit consists of putting on several layers of clothing, from the most undressed to the warmest, in order to be able to undress on the way. My layered clothing included a thermal T-shirt, a pullover and snow jacket, hat, scarf, a pair of tights and windbreaker pants on top, plus thermal socks and an extra pair of socks in the backpack. I am very cold, so I wore these clothes both for walks in the mountains and for other hikes in the city. As for the coat, I preferred to have too much rather than too little 😂.
Fue en esta ciudad que implementé más que nunca eso de vestirse "como cebolla". Esta forma de outfit consiste en ponerse varias capas de ropa, desde más desabrigada hasta más abrigada, para poder ir desvistiendose en el camino. Mi ropa en capas incluía una camiseta térmica, un pullover y la campera de nieve, gorro, bufanda, una calza y un pantalón rompevientos encima, y además, medias térmicas y un par de medias extra en la mochila. Yo soy muy friolenta, así que esta ropa la llevaba tanto para paseos en la montaña como para otras caminatas en la ciudad. En cuanto al abrigo, prefería que sobrara y no que faltara 😂.
On one of my first walks in the city I had a perfect example of what I had been told about all the weather in one day. When I went out for an early walk, the sky was clear and beautiful, but as the afternoon wore on the cloudiness increased, it rained and then cleared up again. All the pictures I took that day look like completely different days, but they are just from a typical day in Ushuaia. Even on another occasion, we had a very big thunderstorm with lightning and thunder, and in just half an hour the sky was clear and rainbowed. This makes every ride a mystery, so it is best to have adequate clothing for any weather event 😅.
En uno de mis primeros paseos en la ciudad tuve un ejemplo perfecto de lo que me habían dicho sobre todos los climas en un mismo día. Cuando salí a dar una vuelta temprano, el cielo estaba despejado y lindo, pero con el transcurrir de la tarde la nubosidad aumentó, llovió y luego se volvió a despejar. Todas las fotos que tomé ese día parecen de días completamente diferentes, pero solo son de un día típico en Ushuaia. Incluso en otra oportunidad, tuvimos una tormenta muy grande con rayos y truenos, y en tan solo media hora el cielo ya estaba limpio y con arcoiris. Esto hace a cada paseo un misterio, así que lo mejor es tener ropa adecuada para cualquier evento metereológico 😅.
I really enjoyed being in this place with all its curiosities and beautiful scenery to see anywhere. For us who come from Buenos Aires these varied climates in the course of the hours is not at all common, so even that I liked to live it in tourist mode. I was glad I made a good selection of clothes to take on this trip, and most important of all, I didn't get so wet or cold 😅.
Disfruté mucho estar en este lugar con todas sus curiosidades y paisajes lindos para ver en cualquier lado. Para nosotros que venimos de Buenos Aires estos climas tan variados en el transcurso de las horas no es nada común, así que hasta eso me gustó vivirlo en modo turista. Me alegré de haber hecho una buena selección de ropa para llevar a ese viaje, y lo más importante de todo, es que no me mojé tanto ni pasé frío 😅.

You plan for rain and the sun is hotter the whole day, you plan for sun and it rains the whole day😂
Even though dressing smart according to the weather is a climate adaptation, you’d just have to rather stay alert here.
That's how it is! Just in case you should always go with a warm jacket but with a short t-shirt underneath, that means being prepared 😅.

Lo peor que te puede suceder en esa zona es que en medio de una caminata te agarre la lluvia, aunque sea una pequeña porque después con el viento y el frio la podes pasar muy mal. Que bueno que hayas sido precavida y fuiste preparada jajaja y mejor aun que hayan tocado dias buenos.

Although Ushuaia is an unpredictable city, because out of nowhere the clouds gather and it starts to rain, but only for a few moments, then it turns into a sunny day. Yes, the ideal outfit is the style you have created, onion type, several layers of clothing to be discarded depending on the occasion.
