New #wednesdaywalk beauty seen through our eyes and lenses.
Today, we talk about Trogir, this I would dare to say ancient city, about 4000 years old. It is important to mention that the city is under the protection of UNESCO, and that it is a wonderful blend of Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
As you walk its cobbled streets, you will be surrounded by charming and traditional taverns. In Central Europe, it was considered the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic city. The castle and the tower surrounded by walls form the core of Trogir.
The Grand Cipiko Palace (named by the Cipiko family who built it), located in the historic center of Trogir, is a complex consisting of Romanesque buildings, most likely rebuilt around 1457. The palace was rebuilt several more times, and today it has the appearance of a two-story building with a high attic, built of properly cleat stone blocks decorated with stone plastic by excellent masters.
There are several significant historical buildings in the city, none probably more important than the Cathedral of St. Lovre (Saint Lawrence), whose complete construction lasted almost 300 years, and has stood proudly in this place since 1598.

The cathedral was mostly built in the Romanesque style (masters Stjepan and Matej) until 1251, while the Gothic vault was built in the 15th century. Construction was completed in 1589. upon the completion of the top floor of the bell tower in the mannerist style of the architect Trifun Bokanič (1575-1609), which took almost two centuries to build.
Croatia is a country of exceptional natural beauty and full of incredible sights. Due to its position in Europe, the climate is typically Mediterranean which brings nice weather throughout most of the year. Croatia is bordered by the Adriatic Sea, which is home to more than a thousand diverse islands. These islands cover over a thousand square miles.
Croats live a relaxed lifestyle, and are often seen sitting (which is a bit strange to foreigners) in cafes all day long drinking coffee. People mostly compare our lifestyle and personality to countries of Southern America.
Exciting history, Romanesque-Gothic buildings, a typical relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, but also kilometers of pebble beaches are responsible for the great popularity of this romantic city among tourists from all over the world.
In 2016, Trogir was declared the most beautiful island-city in the world chosen by National Geographic, and since 1997 it has been the only city in Croatia fully protected by UNESCO.
In the past, Trogir was one of the most important shipbuilding centers in Central Dalmatia. Until the appearance of steam ships in Trogir, wooden sailing ships of all known domestic types and sizes were built. Trogir shipbuilders have always been good and respected masters, and the craft of shipbuilders has been passed down from generation to generation.
People that visited Croatia are aware that we have one of the most spectacular sunsets in the world. So, if you are planning to make a romantic trip with your partner, Croatia is the number one choice.
Trogir is an island with the largest historical heritage in the world. It offers countless opportunities for rest, relaxation, adventure and fun. Enter the city through the old city gates, take a leisurely walk around the city and let your imagination take you to the past.
As most of the cities in Croatia, Trogir offers vast variety of boat cruises ranging from daily excursions to week long cruises of beautiful Adriatic islands. Croatia with its 1185 islands, islets, cliffs and reefs has the second most indented coastline in Europe.
This area is characterized by evergreen holm oak forests and Aleppo and black Dalmatian pine forests.
Maquis (dense and low forests), sparse light shrubs, rocky and rocky pastures, and small fragmented arable land are much more common.
The glistening Adriatic Sea, which is characterized by crystal clear water and seductive tones of blue, is an essential component of the picturesque shore. The color varies depending on the seabed sediments, which range from relict sand to rocky and sandy coves. If you swim in the Adriatic even once, you will feel pampered since the water is so clear that you can see the bottom most of the time.
