A Lovely Walk at the Blumengärten Hirschtetten Made Me Smile Again [EN-DE]

Hello dear Hivers!

In first two weeks of March this year, I was still feeling a bit depressed because of the recent demise of my beloved husband. I wanted to find refuge somewhere and one place that I thought of then was the recreational park at the Flower Garden of Hirschtetten. It opened mid March and although it was still cold, I still went.

Today, I am sharing about that walk I made there... it is located in the Donaustadt, Vienna a district where I live. This area used to be a depot of all plants being hoarded and planted for purposes of beautifying the streets, parks and gardens in the city of Vienna.

In den ersten beiden Märzwochen dieses Jahres war ich immer noch etwas deprimiert wegen des kürzlichen Ablebens meines geliebten Mannes. Ich wollte irgendwo Zuflucht finden und ein Ort, an den ich damals dachte, war der Erholungspark in den Blumengärten von Hirschtetten. Er öffnete Mitte März und obwohl es noch kalt war, ging ich trotzdem hin.

Heute erzähle ich von meinem Spaziergang durch die Blumengärten Hirschteten im Bezirk Donaustadt in Wien, in dem ich wohne. Dieses Gebiet war früher ein Depot für alle Pflanzen, die zur Verschönerung der Straßen, Parks und Gärten der Stadt Wien gehortet und gepflanzt wurden.

Due to various methods of propagating not only local seeds but also imported ones, all the plants multiplied in quantity and the city gardeners were overwhelmed by the quantities produced, and so the district authorities MA 42/Magistrat der Stadt Wien then decided to build the various theme gardens, designed the whole park to accomodate the over produced plants of all kinds and opened this to public for free in 2002. And so the various gardens evolved... i.e. english garden, indian garden, chinese garden, garden of Provence, and even added a pre-historic garden. They also erected a traditional farmer´s garden with live animals such as cats and goats in an enclosure... there are ponds for the ducks as well as a turle garden too.

Durch verschiedene Methoden der Vermehrung nicht nur einheimischen Saatguts, sondern auch importierten Saatguts, vermehrten sich alle Pflanzen und die Stadtgärtner waren von den produzierten Mengen überwältigt, und so beschloss die MA 42/Magistrat der Stadt Wien, verschiedene Themengärten zu errichten, gestaltete den gesamten Park, um die überproduzierten Pflanzen aller Art unterzubringen, und öffnete ihn 2002 für die Öffentlichkeit kostenlos. Und so entstanden die verschiedenen Gärten, z.B. der englische Garten, der indische Garten, der chinesische Garten, der Garten der Provence und sogar ein prähistorischer Garten. Es wurde auch ein traditioneller Bauerngarten mit lebenden Tieren wie Katzen und Ziegen in einem Gehege angelegt... es gibt Teiche für die Enten und auch einen für Schildkröte.

I visited this park in mid March, at that time, most of the blooming flowers are those cold resistant with the daffodils in abundance. There were not much flowers yet as winter was just about to subside.

Ich besuchte diesen Park Mitte März, denn zu dieser Zeit blühen die meisten kältebeständigen Blumen, darunter Narzissen in Hülle und Fülle. Es gab noch nicht viele Blumen, da der Winter gerade erst am Abklingen war.

While sitting on a bench to rest, I couldn´t help but smile upon seeing the various flowers laid infront of me. They were like talking to me kind of saying "come and look at us and give us that beautiful smile of yours!"

Als ich auf einer Bank saß, um mich auszuruhen, konnte ich nicht anders, als zu lächeln, als ich die vielen Blumen sah, die vor mir lagen. Sie sprachen sozusagen zu mir und sagten: "Komm und schau uns an und schenke uns dein schönes Lächeln!"

This recreational Park has around 60.000 sqm in area that includes a Palm House. I haven´t visited it yet, but will surely go if the weather permits and by that time, I am sure all the bare trees in March are now full of leaves and flowers as the season is going towards Summer.

Dieser Freizeitpark ist etwa 60.000 m² groß und umfasst auch ein Palmenhaus. Ich habe ihn noch nicht besucht, werde aber sicher hingehen, wenn das Wetter es zulässt, und ich bin sicher, dass alle kahlen Bäume im März jetzt voller Blätter und Blüten sind, da die Saison auf den Sommer zugeht.

This is the entrance to the wedding garden with its lovely pavilion and any couple who wants to get married can book this garden exclusively. The garden is so romantic with plenty of roses and other flowering plants.

Dies ist der Eingang zum Hochzeitsgarten mit seinem schönen Pavillon, und jedes Paar, das heiraten möchte, kann diesen Garten exklusiv buchen. Der Garten ist so romantisch mit vielen Rosen und anderen blühenden Pflanzen.

The Park has a garden full of lavenders, cyprus trees as well as very old olive trees... the feeling of being in a provenceal garden in France is enorm especially when the lavenders are all in full bloom and the olive trees begin to show new leaves again.

Der Park hat einen Garten voller Lavendel, Zypressen und sehr alten Olivenbäumen... das Gefühl, in einem provenzalischen Garten in Frankreich zu sein, ist enorm, besonders wenn der Lavendel in voller Blüte steht und die Olivenbäume wieder neue Blätter tragen.

It is very nice to experience the serenity of the park, there are many banks and seats available for the tired feet and simply just sit there in front of the pond and enjoy watching the dancing fountains, most especially liked by the young park visitors. I am sure to come back again when the trees and flowering plants are all in full bloom.

Es ist sehr schön, die Ruhe des Parks zu erleben, es gibt viele Bänke und Sitzgelegenheiten für die müden Füße, und man kann einfach vor dem Teich sitzen und die tanzenden Fontänen beobachten, was besonders bei den jungen Parkbesuchern sehr beliebt ist. Ich bin sicher, dass ich wiederkommen werde, wenn die Bäume und blühenden Pflanzen in voller Blüte stehen.
