After long gloomy days with lingering rains, cold frosty nights and bright sunny days suddenly came! In the morning, the grass in front of my house was white with frost. When the sun rose, everything around sparkled, as if sprinkled with silver. That's nice! Winter has come to us!
I will dress warmer. After all, she gathered in the coldest city in Italy. This is the town of Belluno. And today, according to forecasters, it will be minus 5 degrees Celsius there. For Italy, this is a real cold.

Після довгих похмурих днів з затяжними дощами несподівано наступили холодні морозяні ночі і яскраво- сонячні дні! Вранці трава навпроти мого будинку була біла від інію. Коли вийшло сонце, все навколо заіскрилося, неначе посипане сріблом. Гарно так! Зима прийшла і до нас!
Я одягнутися потепліше. Адже зібралася в саме найхолодніше місто Італії. Це місто Беллуно. І сьогодні за прогнозом синоптиків там мінус 5 градусів за Цельсієм. Для Італії це справжній холод.
Two hours by train and I'm already standing on the platform in Belluno. From the railway station, I head up the familiar route and see how mountain peaks begin to rise in front of me. The mountains are covered with white snow that has fallen recently. They look like huge lollipops sprinkled with powdered sugar. It is really very cold. It feels like the frost is starting to pinch the cheeks. I walk to the Ponte degli Alpini bridge. This bridge offers a wonderful view of the mountain peaks. I breathe in the crystal clear air of the mountains. So much oxygen, my head is spinning!

Вони виглядають як посипані цукровою пудрою величезні льодяники. Справді дуже холодно. Відчувається, що мороз починає щіпати за щоки. Я іду до мосту Ponte degli Alpini. З цього мосту відкривається чудова панорама на гірські вершини. Я вдихаю кришталевочисте повітря гір. Так багато кисню, аж крутиться голова!
Belluno with its mountain peaks is protected by UNESCO. Belluno is a city with a very ancient origin. The city was founded in the 3rd century BC. by the Celts Throughout its history, Belluno passed from the Romans to the Lombards, then to the Venetians. Each ruler brought his own motives to the development of the city. The Romans and Lombards built fortified walls and made the city an impregnable fortress.
The Venetians ruled until the arrival of Napoleon. And then Belluno entered the Austrian Empire. During the reign of the Austrians, palaces, administrative and public buildings, parks and squares began to be built in Belluno.

The noise of the water is not audible because the bridge is quite high. From this bridge, the Ponte degli Alpini bridge, where I was recently, is clearly visible.

I go up via S.Lucano, where the Chiesa dei Santi Biagio e Stefano is located. This is an ancient church with a bell tower in the form of a cone, on which a clock divided into 24 hours can be seen from afar. The church is unremarkable from the outside, built of white stone. Above the door is a single window in the shape of a flower, which indicates the Gothic style of the cathedral. But the interior is impressive with its beauty. The decoration of white and black marble emphasizes the Gothic forms of the ceiling. The first thing that caught my eye was the wonderful statue of the Mother of God with Seven Arrows, which is located in the central altar. This is a 1657 work by Gianbattista Alcini and a Lazzarini canvas. The statue is a symbol of Belluno. It is removed once a year and carried solemnly through the streets of the city two Sundays before Easter. There are many works of art in the church, including two statues of angels by Andrea Brustolon; a carved wooden altar attributed to Andrea di Foro of Belluno; frescoes on the central walls by Jacopo da Montagnano depicting the martyrdom of St. Stephen, the conversion of Paul, the life of Christ, revealed from under the plaster during the earthquake of 1873.

The main square is Duomo Squar. On it are the grandest and most beautiful buildings of Belluno. These are Palazzo dei Rettori, Palazzo di Justicia, Vescovado Vecchio, Palazzo Rosso. Each of the palaces is unique. On the same square there is a cathedral built in the Baroque style. A characteristic feature is the bell tower in the shape of a bulb, on the top of which is placed an angel with trumpets.

The Basilica of St. Martini is built of gray stone. Fragments of former temples that were once on this site were also used. A gray, unremarkable church with columns and long pointed windows and three doors seems to stretch upwards. The church dates back to 547. Since its existence, the basilica has undergone reconstruction, repair and reconstruction. But all the initiators of these works focused on preserving the original building as much as possible. The church was particularly damaged during the earthquake in 1873.
The interior of the church is refined and restrained. The church is divided into three naves with very high arches, which is characteristic of the Gothic style. I was impressed by the dome from which sunlight poured. Windows with beautiful stained glass. Magnificent altars made of spotted marble captivate with their elegance. There are many works of art in the church. Among the most important works we find the scene of the martyrdom of San Lorenzo from 1571 by Jacopo Bassano. Also very valuable is the painting by Piet with the altar of Palma il Giovanni (1640-1628), which depicts the Descent from the Cross. The cathedral is famous for its relic kept in the tabernacle in the Altar of the Holy Thorn. This is the crown of thorns of Jesus Christ, brought from Constantinople in 1453. Each painting impresses with its colors and play of light.
A bell tower 67 meters high was built next to the basilica, designed by Filippo Yuvar.

Time passed quickly. The sun sets lower and lower. I also went shopping at Belluno because I wanted to buy gifts for my daughter @nadinzakrevska and myself, taking advantage of the fact that now is the time for discounts. Then she drank a hot, delicious cappuccino and ate her sandwiches and set off on her way home.
Швидко пролетів час. Сонце сідає все нижче. Я ще зробила пробіжку по магазинах Беллуно так як хотіла купити подарунки моїй дочці @nadinzakrevska та собі, скориставшись тим, що зараз час знижок. Потім випила гаряче смачне капучіно та з'їла свої бутерброди і вирушила в дорогу додому.
