A Queen Anne Home

Our town boast of homes that are impressively attractive in architecture. Some of these homes were built during the period 1860 to 1940. Today I will feature one such home, as well as the flowers I chanced along the way.

In 1990, this beautiful house was awarded the own's Heritage Home Award. It stands as it was built in 1890.

The house was built for Edmund R. Lowe, a director of the bank in town, and he owned it until he died in 1899. Upon which his daughter inherited the property, who later on passed it to her heirs. The house was eventually was acquired by Mr. W.S. Marks in1953. It stayed with that family until finally it was sold to the current owners in 1998.

The house is Queen Anne in style. It has a 48-ft tower with a bell-shaped roof, inset porches, and a cross-ridged main roof. There is a carriage house that matches the house.

The exterior: walls are in and out, "waved" and notched shingles, milled horizontal sidings. Also. it has 16 stained glass windows each with over 100 individual pieces of glass!

This is indeed a nice Queen Anne-style house.

As I walked around the neighborhood, I took photos of flowers.

White.

Purple.

And pink!

So very pretty, but I don't know what kind of flowers they are.

Oh, before I forget... here's the number of steps I made!

The house is like old and yet it doesn't look as old as I think it should hehe
I love that it's still standing tall and proud
I wonder what the interior is like and it's furnished.
This is so interesting :D

It was built 1890, over 130 years old!
I can just imagine the upkeep of the house, from repainting to repairs!!!
I wonder how long my house will last, will it still be here when I am gone, hehehe!
One of these days I'll ask permission from the owners to take the interior photos, @kaerpediem👍😀😘😍

Will you really?!!
Oh I would love to see
Especially the antiques that are lurking around
The stories they hold ...

Oh, Queen Anne! She is a beauty! The lines on it are so genteel and full of grace, aren't they? They just resonate with an era gone by.

I can only imagine when Mr. Lowe built this for his daughter? I can see the pride shining in his face, to be able to provide in that way for your offspring! It was a grand gesture on his part. I can tell there has been a good amount of pride shown in this house, which is why it remains in such great shape.

I own a Rustic Victorian that is quite large over on the Eastern Shore. They are much more practically built, hence the rustic. It was built in 1859 and has a fireplace in every room. It is that house with plain lines. :) But, I love it anyway and it is a work in progress with the renovations.

You took a beautiful walk today, showing off your beautiful town.

The purple is Liriope muscari or some people call it monkey grass. I can't really tell what the pink one is. I can't see the leaves on the plant. Anyway, great steps and great post!

I hope you have a wonderful day.

You must live in a very pretty house!
A fireplace in every room. It reminds me of a retreat house I go to once a year. That too has a fireplace in every room, and I find that so romantic!
A Liriope Muscari or monkey grass! I never took the time to research it, so thank you!
I had a fulfilling and wonderful day, @dswigle, and I wish you the same 👍😀😘😍

I just happen to know it's monkey grass. The fireplaces in every room is because the house was built in 1869 and that was the heating. Judging by the size of the home oh, I would have to say that they were well off for the times. Thank you so much and I hope that you have a wonderful day as well.

You know it, @dswigle!!!
I am catching up with my responses, hehehe 😘😍!

Ohh my very impressive @silversaver888!!🤗 I would not have noticed the "waves" on the exterior walls if you had not mentioned it....Craftsmanship!!!😀
Having built homes for myself, and knowing that this was built in 1890 without power tools, is truly impressive!

You have skills, @silvertop 👍😘!!!

Now if I just had internet Lol!☺️ 100 degrees and power is down…. We have high speed internet and it’s down! Trying to make comments on my phone @silversaver888 😊

Sometimes, the power goes down here, but not very often 😆😂.

I am very glad we have Solar, I know you have as well its comforting to have backup!

Beautiful photos very good work!!!

I have always wanted a round tower on a home just like this one! What a beautiful house! I would love to see the inside.

I love beautiful old houses like this. Such grand personalities.

It's wonderful that it's owners through time have been able to maintain it's original beauty. So many times they were not kept up and slowly disintegrated. Such a shame.

Yes, @jacey.boldart. Apparently, this house was never vacant 👍😀!

Absolutely stunning and well maintained during all these years.
Hmm I was hoping to see the inside of the house.. like a tour of the house. Hehe
I understand that people are not going to let you into their homes just like that.. I was just being hopeful.

Hopefully one day, they will! You'll never know 👍😘😘😍😆😜!

I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞

Our town boast of homes that are impressively attractive in architecture.

So I have noticed with some of your posts. Gosh, you have such lovely houses over there. I particularly like this Queen Anne-styled house. Very historic!
